I cut my 20 Christmas cake in four and have made mini Christmas cakes to give out (okay I am a little early) but who doesnt like a free cake!?

I had bought these little edible stars a while back and I think they are just the trick for Xmas decorating, would do you think?

They look and feel like little bits of plastic but they melt into nothing in your mouth.

Had a heck of a time getting the fondant on a small square shape though.

I have three more to do so any suggestions/ideas/feedback is very welcome.

Thanks
Kathryn

I think that cake is just a little work of art!!

It's so dainty, and delicate and perfect.

The tree is adorable and the little stars are just like a sprinkling of stardust.

The ribbon is also just the right finishing touch.

You're right who wouldn't want free cake - but I'd pay for a cake like that icon_biggrin.gif

Your friends are VERY lucky!

P.S. Just checked your gallery - all your cakes are great!!

Awww thanks guys, you sure no how to make a gal feel good!

I got the little stars off a woman who makes cakes from home and also imports americolor colors, edible glitter, lustre dust etc. (here in New Zealand!).

I know she imports her glitters and lustre dusts from the UK in bulk and then she sends them off somewhere here and they get packaged up into small vials which she sells.

Last time I was there she showed me some 'angel hair' it was an iridescent colour and it was like fine fine hair that was ediable!!!!

I am sure some of our UK CC'ers will know better than me where you could get this. I will email her to see if she would supply overseas if anyone is interested. The vial was probably the equivalent to about $4us (from memory) so it wasn't expensive.

That really is a stylish, delicate cake. Very, very nice.

I would consider buying those edible stars from your friend, but I live here in the US. Ask her if she would sell overseas.

Yes the tree is three different size stars placed on top of each other, I just used some edible glue (spose i should have used a toothpick to make it more stable?).

I emailed the lady (just to clarify she isn't my personal friend I just buy off her) so i will post once she replies.

Thanks again

I love your cake! It is the cutest thing! Where did you purchase the little edible stars? Reminds me of the stars you get in grade school! thumbs_up.gif

Yes RachelC the stars are edible, I got them here in New Zealand but I am pretty sure they are from the UK. I have contacted the supplier I purchased them from to see if you can order them from overseas (or if she will let me know where people can get them from). Keep an eye on the topic as I will post her answer when she responds to my email.

What a great idea. The stars are wonderful. I've never seen any like that, and certainly none that were edible. I'll watch the thread for a place to order them (I hope). Great cakes!

Hi Emma (Love your cakes by the way )

She also had little hearts, little dots and red hearts.

I've emailed her again so I am hoping she responds quickly.

They are Edable Art brand - you know like the glitter?
