Great job! Is it really easy like you say? I've never tried it. Wouldn't know where to start.

Can you explain how you did it? Thanks.

You did a wonderful job!! I love chocolate transfers. I have tried the FBCT, but mine never turn out very good. I much prefer working with the chocolate. You can really get great details with it.

I read the tutorial on FBCT and used melted chocolate instead. I put a little bit of my regular colour in white chocolate melts. I know that this can cause the chocolate to seize but I didnt seem to have that problem. I think most people use the Wilton Candy melts??????

I am serious when I say this was easy! It was just like colouring in. Man oh Man I LOVE this site!

I emailed my boss (Im on leave this week) my Chocolate transfer (poor man has to listen to my cake talk 8 hours a day!) and he didnt believe I did that! I told him to choose something and I would make it and email it back to him. He chose Elvis! icon_eek.gificon_eek.gificon_eek.gif Okay I hurried this and I can see not to try an smooth the back with my finger. But this took all of 5 mins!

Cindy6250 how do you get the backs smooth without smudging it like I did?

He has just emailed me back and STILL doesnt believe I did that!

Katharry,
Well done!
Someone here gave me the advice to do a google search if say you want a picture of a horse search "horse coloring " and you get black outlined pictures used for colouring and you just print them off. I am still to do a chocolate transfer as I have lots of Americolor Soft Gel Paste and I am just waiting for my Flo-coat to arrive. Just going to use the Nestles white buttons and colour them. Is that what you used? Cheers

I felt the same way the first time I did a chocolate transfer...how easy and less time consuming compared to FBCT and COLORFLOW! I do some sort of a chocolate transfer on just about all my cakes now, especially if I need some kind of writing on them, some much cleaner looking!

Question though for anyone, any advice on using gel colors with the candy melts? I know wilton has some special ones and I think I remember hearing that you can use the Americolor flo coat with any of their colors...is this accurate info?

Kattarry - color flow (made by wilton) is pretty much like using royal icing (which I use most of the time). You use different colors to outline and image underneath wax or parchment then thin it down to 'flow' it in order to get a sugar plaque. If you look in my photos, a couple examples would be the buildings on my Batman cake or the Seahawks team logo on my football field cake on page 2 of my gallery.

Katharry Hi
Do you mean Flo-coat?. It is a food colouring agent that allows you to use any of the Americolor Soft Gel Paste to colour white chocolate and compound coatings. The usage ratio is 5 parts of Flo-coat to 1 part of Soft Gel Paste. I thought I would duck away and have a go but what a disaster! Will give it a rest as the Netball is on. Cheers.

Ooooooh so you can do this with royal icing, Buttercream AND chocolate???? Wow, finding this is a revelation! Your options are limitless!

Okay so I need to go and get some Flocoat. Briarview where do you get this (Millys kitchen?) are you in Auckland? Had a look at your cakes, they are amazing! So elegant.

Yes the netball go the kiwis

Schmoop your sugar plaques are fab! So what's the advantage over using royal/BC/Chocolate?

Yes I've just walked away from teh tlly with us two goals down.... can't bear to watch us lose!

Let me know how much it cost you..... Milly's kitchen up here in Auckland seems to be really reasonably priced (they have most wilton products). If you need anything I'd be happy to post to you.

Thanks I appreciate that. The Flo-coat is $16.65 so I would be interested if you can get it for cheaper.
Oh well so much for the Netball! Is it okay if I pm you sometime regarding the Chocolate Transfer. You seem to have it of pat. Cheers Briarview

Hi Leeann, yes we can get them but they are really expensive. I just used Nestle Melts - they are like chocolate buttons, usually in the baking ilse of the supermarket. I had one lot seize when i put the colour in but the rest were okay.
