We meet once a month (in McKinney) to talk cakes. If you live close by, why not stop by???
WOW there are alot of bakers in Texas lol. I am from a lil ole town called Hardin. If you blink you will miss it. It is located between cleveland and beaumont.
Wow. Just got back home and it's great to see all the Texas bakers.
Wow again--- from looking all your photo albums there's alot of talent in this state! Of course, being the largest state there should be (if all the ice in Alaska melted, it would only be the size of Rhode Island!LOL!)
Looks like most of you are north and south of me--Ft.Worth/Dallas/Plano and Houston area. Anyone from Central Texas? I know one lady is from Waco--but can't remember who.
OK--Cake Carousel---never heard of it. Please, more information--where is it, what do they have, are they open 24-7
It is a great cake supply store here in Richardson off of 75 (north Dallas). It has everything from Satin Ice to Candy molds of every shape and size. It has Americolor and cake pans galore. I just love it. They offer cake classes and make wedding cakes too. Their website is

If you're ever up here, you must check it out.
MissJ--I swam today in the med center--what a mess. I was there for an appt and wasn't going to get my mammo and bloodwork done till later, so dh could get to work(he was watching the kiddos at home), but there was NO way out, and people were cancelling appts so I got everything done while waiting. Usually my dr has a 2hour wait--today--10mins,but I still took 5 hours--most waiting to get home.
MissJ , have you ever been to MakeaCake in Bellaire?
Hi North Texas DFW Bakers!! I am about 30 miles north of Mckinney/60 miles north of Dallas. I have a licensed custom cake bakery about 15 miles from my house. I used to love cake decorating...until I did it as a business then it became a hassle and I experienced a lot of burn out. Now I have a great customer base who I do cakes for and only bake for them and people they refer to me...things have gotten so much better for me now!!
Anyway, I love talking cake with other decorators! I do have several wholesale accounts and I can get products much cheaper than shopping at cake carousel and other stores around the area (sometimes about 1/3 of the price!). If any1 is interested in ordering with me I'd love that! I don't buy as much in bulk and every place has a minimum order so it would be great to have ppl to share with so I didn't have to meet minimums on my own. I also don't mind sharing my shop if any1 is interested in driving that far!
South of Houston here. Richmond/Rosenberg area.

Marina,
I went to your clubs' cake show last March-my first ever cake show-AWESOME CAKES! Seeing cakes like that in person was great--almost used up the card in my digital camera!
Marina! OMG!!! The monthly meetings are literally right around the corner from my house! I'll have to check that out!

I live in the Richardson/Plano area in Dallas. I'm not really a cake decorator yet, just started a few months ago but I love doing it so I'm up for cake talking anytime.

Gramofgwen,
Do you ever go to Cake Carousel? I'm addicted to that store.
Yes! I go there to get supplies. I live outside of Whitewright, about 50 miles northeast of Dallas. My fondant class starts next thursday. I don't do cakes as a business either, but thinking of getting started. Right now, I'm preparing to do my sister's wedding cake in April.
Richland Hills here. Ft Worth mid cities...north east mall area. I have a student trying to put together a cake club in this area if anyone is interested pm me and I can give you contact information. It probably won't get started up until Jan but he needs interested parties. Lots of interest from Wilton and ICES.
I am also born and raised right here in good old Ft Worth. I live 30 minutes from my childhood home.
Love to talk cake!
Mel,
I live in Allen. I have just started taking the Wilton classes and can't wait to decorate more cakes! I am having a great time!
FYI-I have a KitchenAid Stand Mixer for sale. Everything is in great condition except the plastic black cover on the front where the extra attachments are placed has broken off. You can still place attachments, only the screw is exposed rather than being covered with the cap. The color is gray and price is $130. If you know anyone who may be interested, please let me know. I can also send pics and more info if you need. I would rather not ship, but will consider if necessary.
lol sisspence, you just might. my and DH used to go to crosby ever other weekend so heck we may have seen ya around lol.
MCOOK heres a funny story. Our extended family always camped alot from the time my sister was small, she is a few years older than I am and this continued till my fathers death when I was 19. One time when I was about 10 or 12 I remember my grandmother saying I was a creekbank baby... ![]()
I did not understand until years later what she meant. ![]()

My name is Lorena, (from a sign near Lorena,TX my mom saw during a trip she took.) I was born and raised in Dallas, am currently living in Laredo, TX, and hoping to move to San Antonio, or even back to Dallas!!
I'm very new to cake decorating, and am currently taking the Fondant and Gumpaste class at Michael's. But I love it!!

LGL,
I'm also in Houston...Cake Craft Shoppe is the name of the supplier in Sugarland (not always very pleasant
so I always take the 45 min drive to amazin cakes rather than going 20 mins to the unfriendly), I've never had the pleasure to visit Makeacake but I here it's nice, and I absolutely LUUUUUUUUv amazin cakes (very very very small but the young girls that work there always know they're stuff and if they don't know they always find someone who does...even if that means them callin me on my cell phone after they've closed at 5pm (now that's customer satisfaction!!!!!!)
.
