Hi everybody!
This website is great! I went to the USA on march and i fall in love with cupcakes! My probleme is that I live in France.
I love to cook and I bake a lot of cupcake.

I would like to bake a birthday cake for my sister but I can't find some ingredients in France like shortening, glycerin or fondant ready to use!
Do you know how I can subsitut this ingredient? Have you got some tips for me?

Thank you!

PS : Do you know some shop which ship in France?

I've heard shortening refered to by English people as "white fat". It is vegetable fat. Many people find glycerin at the "health foods" store, places that sell homemade soap making supplies, or in the area of a store where they sell hand lotions. I'm willing to bet you can find ready made fondant in Europe as foots2 mentioned.

First, living in France is NOT a problem. France is fantastic!

I like http://www.cincicakeandcandy.com/index.php
They sell shortening, fondant, etc. I can call them when they open to see if they will ship to you.

Hi,

here is a link for talk about shortening in the UK, this might help.

Also if you cannot find Fondant, you might want to try making some MMF

http://www.cakecentral.com/cake_recipe-3183-Rhondas-Ultimate-MMF.html

I made this fondant and I added bubblegum flavor to it and the kids are now eating it up!

They think it's gum.... It's really kind of fun.

Good Luck
