feeling a bit better gingerkitten... cant wait till this flu season is over. Trying to get better when you have a 21 month & 5 month old to look after (who are also suffering from colds) is bloody hard!!!!!!!!!
Have been unable to find inspiration to even eat cake at the moment, let alone decorate. Gosh our aussie contingent is getting BIG!! How great is it to introduce ourselves????
Looking forward to swapping ideas and pics. I have a few to load from classes but have to find the time to nag my hubby into doing it!!

Thanks Barbara!!
good to hear LiliS... i feel your pain!
I's so happy to see so many of us out there! but then again that means competition!! i lay claim to inner north melbourne!! lol!
I've only bought from cakedeco in the city before and i find him to be a bit strange but he does have great stuff and the ladies are all very helpful! As for the cake man down stairs, i found him very rude and abrupt... Really gave me a bad feeling.
I know willaim angliss do a cake decorating short course, but i dont know the details, its on my other computer.
Will post tonight.

Here is one of my favourite for colours and all sorts of things
http://www.carolines.com.au
the litlle liqid colours , 30ml bottles of rose pink and wedgewood blue etc are what all my pinks and blues that eveyone always messages me about are based on
they are really good and fast to get stuff out to you
another Aussie here!
I'm from Tassie.
I found CC about a year ago and it's been great. I've learn't so much already.
I actually started out working with clay and making miniatures, and I love to bake and figured I could switch to sugar instead of clay. haha
There aren't that many resources for Cake decorating in Tassie, there is only an adult ed class that you can take. And one cake shop. the lady there is really lovely and is always helping me out with recipes and such.
It's great to see so many Aussies on here!!
Marina

what a great thread, I am getting so much info about suppliers etc already. I had a mad hatter workshop at Greensborough yesterday. We just made RTR roses and learnt how to make a bow. I actually think I found on here a better way to make the roses so I will give it a go sometime this week.
I actually think I found on here a better way to make the roses .
can I ask where abouts did you find that.?
Hi everyone! Gee I can't believe it's taken me this many pages before I found this thread!
I blame it on my son's 6th birthday party on the weekend from which I am STILL recovering!
I had 17 kids and 16 parents at home with a jumping castle. The only thing that saved the day was the champage sorbets us adults sipped on all day!
I hail from sunny Brissie, so Hi to all that I haven't met before!!
Hi curvy ! If your champagne sorbets are what we call champagne slushies ( sorbet & champagne mixed in a blender ? ) then YUMMY !!! I love them
Quick question guys, what cake tin should I use to make the equivalent of a sheet cake ? anyone made these ?
thanks
I have a large slab tin which I bought from a cake decorating shop that I use which is sorta like a sheet cake I guess. My mum has bought me a smaller rectangular pan which I'll be using soon.
I just thought a sheet cake was a rectangular tin??? No??????
Hi everyone
WOW....fantastic to see so many Aussies and so much Aussie talent
I have been doing the "cake thing" (as DH calls it !!!)for about a year, so still a newbie, I have learnt heaps from here, surfing the net and from some really old books I got from ebay
I'm in Syd now but grew up in Melb. and travel from Syd, Melb and ACT all the time... I have 3 Melb trips to do before Chrissy ...one to deliver a cake .....can't wait to hit those melb shops and now the cake dec shops....the shopping is soooo good down there
It'll be great to chat and swap info from others down under.....
as soon as i find it again, will let you know!
thankyou so much, appreciate your time,!
Hi there Jules!
Yes, that's what we drank Champage and lemon sorbet mixed together. They are divine and very moorish! Everytime that I offer them, my guests keep asking for more!
My friend sold me on them as she served them at a lingerie party she hosted and it worked, cos we all blew our budgets and bought heaps of bras!
Hoorah for champers slurppies and sexy bras!
i tell you what is excellent for spring...
One bottle of a fruity champers
a couple of panama passionfruit http://gourmet.ninemsn.com.au/gourmettraveller/features/features305.asp
and a bottle of lychee juice (big supermarkets)
Add to a glass about 1/3 juice, top with champers slowly because it will go crazy and then scoop a little of the fresh passionfruit pulp onto it...
the seeds will float up and down like a lava lamp and its sooo yummy!!
I used to be a bar girl- truuust me!
Honey_Cakes, are you doing the Celebration Cupcakes class? Me too! I'll be the one wearing the wrist splints
Please introduce yourself, it will be like having "Family" there!!
Yeah, I think it is a rectangular tin - wasn't sure how big they are & I actually haven't seen any rectangular tins around here ( might have to go to the Big Smoke !! )
We always have champagne slushies for xmas & any other get-togethers - very, very easy to drink ! I love the berry & mango sorbets too
Gingerkitten, definitely going to try that drink !!!
Sorry about the late reply ladies! I have been so flat out with cakes that i havent had the chance to jump on here! So i would just like to say a BIG thank you to all of you that have written lovely comments about my cakes! Its so nice to hear!!!!! THANK YOU!
Um i dont know how to post with a quote but in regards to a question about my figurines, they are made out of plastic icing with cmc/tylose added.

I thought the same thing, I noticed Cake Deco has some rectangular tins listed on their website.
Hi to all. I am in Glenroy, althought i will shortly be moving to Sydenham.
It looks like my company will be going ahead.
The take away shop opposite my DBF work is willing to let me use it at my convenience if I supply cakes to him at no cost. Yippee, that just saved us a fortune in conversions to be licenced as a home business.
Will keep you all posted with details.
Cheryl
Hey Cheryl
Im in Meadow Heights!!!
Im with Fran, Planet Cake courses are IT.
No other course can compare. After doing a course there earlier this year, I HAVE to go back for another next year. THEY ARE JUST AWESOME!!!! Worth every cent.
Boonenati, your just around the corner from me.
Do you work from home or have a shop?
Have looked at your website and your cakes and they are awesome.
Beany, I will have to check out all those sites, there are some that I haven't tried yet.
Does anyone know where I can get boxes tall enough for a 3d cake?
I can find cake boxes at my supply shop but the lids come down too low for the cake that I need it for.
