Ok, I am so impressed with kitchengifts.com NFSC recipe that I want to try their chocolate rolled cookies but it calls for strong coffee or chocolate liqueur. I don't drink coffee and have never made it in my life so not sure I want to go there...wouldn't know if it tasted right or not...lol. So, I thought I would try chocolate liqueur but have also never bought that before. I have been in a liquor store probably twice in my life and once was to buy vodka for my luster dust and the other time I think I was lost! Can you tell I'm not a drinker? Anyway, if you have a recommendation on a good brand I would greatly appreciate it. I live in Virginia and we have ABC stores (Dept of Alcoholic Beverage Control) so I'm not sure if that will limit my selection or not...maybe fellow Virginians can help me with that. Thanks for your help!

I wouldn't waste the money on a liquer for this cookie. For strong coffe, use Espresso powder, you can find it in the grocery with the instant coffee. Just make a cup according to the directions. Nice, strong coffee flavor. Much cheaper. If they don't have Espresso powder, I have used a regular, name brand, instant coffee and just added extra powder. Seemed to work fine.

If you want to go the chocolate liqueur route definitely buy Godiva! It's available nation-wide so you shouldn't have a problem finding it at the liquor store. Our alcohol sales are controlled by the state, too, so I know your pain.

Godiva gets my vote!! There's a white chocolate version that I put in my hot cocoa (when I'm not using Bailey's) in the winter time. Gimme a Break- I'm a teacher- some strong drinks are needed come winter time!! icon_smile.gif

I used to live in VA and I remember the ABC stores...I live in OR now and we have somethig very similar. I would reccomend the Godiva, but get them in the little bottles (I do this for my whiskey that I cook with). Otherwise, since you are not a coffee drinler, go to Starbucks or your nearest coffee shop and get a 16 oz cup of espresso. That way you dont have to make it and you know the coffee will taste good.

Late chiming in on this one but I am not a coffee (or otherwise) drinker. I got a tiny little Folgers Deep Roast instant coffee at my supermarket and espresso powder at a specialty food store. I didn't bother with the coffee liqueur and it taste fine.
