My hands are so warm that I have trouble with frosting breaking down. Someone posted a great tip about filling a bowl with ice and laying your bags on top to keep the frosting cool. I was really excited to try it and was telling my "problem solving" hubby about it. I barely finished and he came up with this wonderful "why didn't I think of that" idea. We have several sizes of rectangular soft ice packs in the freezer from various injuries. Lay one of those bigger ones on the counter and lay your bags on that. You could even hold a smaller one in your hands once in awhile to cool your hands down!!!!!!! Don't you just love those hubbies!!!

That's a great idea, I had always thought of making a bag that would stay cold...but that would work great!

That is an awesome idea. I also run into the hot hand problem when spending a long time decorating. Something I do is stop and put the bag of BC in the frig for a few minutes, just to cool it down some.

Thank you so much! icon_biggrin.gif I have so many ice pads just sitting in the freezer. My hands always turn absolutely beet red when I am decorating, and my buttercream literally goes soft in the bag. You wouldn't believe how many flowers I've made that melted as they were being made. I thought it was a personal problem. Your husband is a life-saver!!! I can't wait to try this. icon_biggrin.gif

Thanks for the solution to my problem icon_biggrin.gif . When I used to help my mother in the kitchen, growing up, she used to always joke about me holding the knife. She claimed that it was going to melt in my hands. It was always so hot when I put it down! Thanks for the tip!
