I am going to be attempting to make a pillow cake this weekend and I need some help. I have NEVER Formed a cake before and am a little confused on when it is best to do it.

I mean I know that i should wait until the cake is cool and everything. Would it be better if I put in in the Fridge so it was REALLY cold??

PLEASE HELP!!!! icon_confused.gif

cake is usually easier to carve if it is cold.

ditto to JoAnn.

Have done it both ways and cold cake is much, much easier! Good Luck!

If you watch any of the cake challenges, they are always pulling them out of the fridge before they begin. I prefer to have cold cake when I'm doing anything, seems easier to work with.

cold, cold, cold! The pillow cake I made this weekend I didn't give myself enough time so the cake was not very chilled. It was full of crumbs, and I started to fall around the edges. Granted it was a pillow cake and made it look more realistic, but it definitely wasn't what I wanted it to be.

I suggest baking a minimum of one day in advance so you have about 20+ hours for that cake to be in the fridge/freezer.
