Just wondering what kind of rolling pin you all use or have found to be "the best"? Over the last few years I've accumulated a few different ones, but not really pleased with any.

I have a wooden one - it sticks.
Black "non-stick" plastic type - yeah it sticks but less than the wood
granite/marble - I always thought they were non-stick but not really (plus I've noticed a "nick" in the granite that could harbor bacteria...ick)
plastic fondant wilton one - this is alright, although most days I do miss the handles.

I guess the only kind I don't have is one of those foam types (silicone I guess) like the pros on food network use... here's a pic of one from ebay

does anyone have one of these and if so do you love it?

TIA!

I have a silicone wrapped pin, that is extra heavy. It makes rolling cookies and fondant MUCH easier. I believe the one I have is a 'Comfort Grips' one.

Piece of white PVC pipe purchased at Lowe's for $2.37!

You can use it for any length--cut it with a saw--washes well and virtually unbreakable!

I finally bought the OXO silicone pin which works great, especially with fondant since the silicone doesn't leave any marks...but it's $30. Most of the time, though, I stick to a wood pin without handles and roll cookie dough out between two pieces of parchment paper.

I don't know if I like my oxo. Or maybe I'm doing something wrong, because I seem to have problems with fondant sticking to it. I was under the impression that you didn't need to dust with anything. Let me know before this one hits the sidewalk like the others cause $30 bucks is a lot to spend and not like it.

Patrice,

In my cake classes, our instructor had us cut the foot end off of a new pair of white panty hose and then fill it with 1/2 cornstarch, 1/2 confectioners sugar, then close it with a rubber band to make a tight bag. If the fondant was too sticky, we used the bag to lightly dust the fondant to keep it from sticking to the rolling pin.

I bought a box of diaper liners and use this to make pouches of cornstarch and powdered sugar, sealed with a rubber band. It dispenses the right amount of powder to dust surfaces and rolling pins.

I use the largest size fondant roller. It was $20 or $30 but well worth it.
