I'm in the process of making the calla illusion cake and placed my calla stems into glass votif cup and filled with royal icing. Well, the icing hasn't dried (I did this on Monday) and the callas aren't stable. I'm afraid they will lean and not be straight on the cake. I only filled the votif cut 3/4 full with royal icing. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to use or how to stabalize the callas?

Thanks!
Debbie

Floral foam, fondant, gumpaste, marbles, styrofoam

any of those might work.

Use fondant. It would take weeks if not months for that much royal icing do dry through

Thanks! I worried about that and did it anyway. It should have been done in layers if I wanted to use the royal!

I ended up cutting some extra pieces of the stem and pushing them into the votif cup around the arrangement to fill the cup. It worked great! I'll post pictures shortly!

Thanks!
