I just got off my long stretch at work (6 days 12 hour shifts). Now I have 4 cakes to make before I start my next long stretch on. One of my cakes is due tonight. So I came home from work (I work nights) and got about 4 hours of sleep. I woke up and had to clean my kitchen. My hubby kind of stacks up the dishes when I am on my long stretch at work (sometimes he cleans them). Anyway, after I cleaned the dishes, I started making my cakes. The one I need for tonight is a chocolate 6". I made up the full batter because I also need a sheet cake of the same recipe. Well... I stuffed the sheet cake and the two 6" cake pans into the oven. I just looked to see if they are ready and the two 6" cakes have fallen!!!! This has never happened to me before. They are due in a couple of hours! Can this be salvaged? I feel so rushed and overwhelmed. Plus I am still tired from working my regular job!

I need a hug... icon_cry.gificon_cry.gificon_cry.gificon_cry.gif

I sure do feel for you. I to have a busy life. I don't work a regular job, but I do the book work for my husbands business (he is a contractor), my stuff for cakes, we run a race track , coach soccer, preschool teacher. So I feel for you. As for the cakes, maybe there were too many in there at once. I am not really for sure.
But a BIGGGGGGGGG!!!!! HUG for you. icon_razz.gif

{{{{{{{hug}}}}}}}}

if they haven't fallen all that much...

extra space for filling! (and most won't complain about that!)

and -- depending upon when the sheet is due...
could sacrifice this one and cut two 6in rounds out of it.

then bake another sheet

(and all the trimmings and fallen cake of course goes to cake balls)

I agree with Doug, extra space for filling. I looked at your cakes and they all look great. I'm sure this one will too!!!

I hope a little empathy will help, along with a virtual hug ((( icon_smile.gif ))).

I have worked your schedule before and it's killer icon_cry.gif . Combine that with kids, house, husband and all of the other demands and you've got a lot on your plate. Sit down for a few minutes, relax with a cup of coffee or tea and take a breather. Sometimes you just need to let go of it all for a few minutes.

I agree with Doug, cut your rounds out of the sheet cake and make another sheet when you have more time. The sinking was probably due to overcrowding in the oven. Unfortunately we usually find out things like that when we can least afford the time.

Good luck and I hope it all works out for you.

Thank you everyone for all the hugs and support. It worked out just fine. She already picked it up and liked it soooo much that she gave me a tip! No one has ever given me a tip before.

I am a Suzy icon_smile.gif And I didn't realize we share the same birthday! Cool icon_smile.gif

I wish I could rest but now I have 3 more cakes to make and decorate in 6 days. One is a "Littlest Pet Shop" theme. And another one is supposed to be a replica of a 1965 Chevy Truck in bright orange. Then I have one that I offered to bring to a graduation party. What have I done to myself??? LOL
