of your cake iced to where you don't have cake showing through it? I had that problem when I first started decorating 2 years ago. I figured out how to get it covered but then I didn't decorate for awhile & now I'm having that trouble again! Ahh!! I think it might be because I have been using Wilton's pans... the edges don't get so straight when baking. They kinda come out in a hour glass shape. I usually use Magic Line pans & the edges are perfect. Forgot to for the last 2 cakes I've done. I'm thinking that's the problem. Question again... when your edges aren't perfectly straight how do you ice your cake to where you don't have cake showing?

I'm going to try & add a pic to show what I'm talking about...

See where the cake is showing through? Also on the bottom part in places. I kept trying to fix it & I'd mess up my icing everytime. I can get a cake smooth I just have such a hard time with these 2 spots on a cake.

Anyone else have that problem?

Do you spatula ice? I can't because if I do, I have the same problem as you. I use the icer tip and that always puts the icing on nice and thick, so even if you have a beveled pan, the cake shouldn't show through. Cute cake! icon_wink.gif

put on a lot more icing, then scrape some off to smoothe the surface.

using an icing tip can help.
