How 'bout this...
This contest could have an entry fee which would eventually pay for a (FIRST CLASS, of course) ticket for the winner to fly on over to WA...

woo hoo.....my brain is on overdrive... icon_biggrin.gif[/quote]

This is a great idea too!!!

Maybe second prize could be the cake for showers, rehersel dinner, grooms cake, etc...

Well since one would normally pay someone to make their cake...I'm thinking they will pay to fly someone out or have it be done in trade...?

Can't wait to hear what this is.

J & H -

I'd gladly help - I got ordained on the internet last year, I could do your ceremony!! icon_lol.gificon_lol.gif
And I'd do the cake too, if I buy my own plane ticket I get a clergy deduction on my taxes hee hee hee

Gosh, what an honor it would be to do this cake, but bluntly, I would be hesitant to enter such a contest because I would be blown away by all of the super awesome talent on here! This wedding should have only the best of the best! I am SO looking forward to seeing the end results!

Oooooohh this is so exciting. I'd never dream of entering (1. I have no talent and 2. I'm on the other side of the world). But I can't wait to see the winning cake.

What about a collaboration of the top 3 cake designers who win the competition to work on the cake together?? Just an idea.

Congratulations Jacqui and Heath on this wedding that is being planned out for you by all at CC!! icon_wink.gificon_lol.gif Hee hee, Weddings are so much fun!!

Fabulous idea! It would seem there should be no other choice for a groom's cake! Do they do grooms cakes in Washington?

I LOOOOOVE the story, the cheesy photo, and the ideas!! Maybe they will "finally" be able to plan a big CC reunion and have EVERYBODY there, with the wedding being part of the big event!! THAT would be fun and a great excuse to fly across the country...still cheaper than driving! icon_biggrin.gif

I don't really have anything to add since I am no way near competition level ... yet!! (heehee) just wanted to be sure I could keep an eye on this topic. Btw, Heath and Jackie, I have observed CC members can get over excited at times (understatement... lol). Just remember, a wedding is a one day deal, a marriage is forever. Do this in your time and when that time is right know "we got'cha baaack!" OK, now that the "mother hen" (as 'ahem' someone?!? so lovingly referred to us) in me is out of the way, let me go and ponder all of the beautiful possibilities...

Cost of a wedding cake to feed 4,000 CC members (J/K ~ icon_lol.gif )~ tapedshut.giftapedshut.gif
Airfare for contest winner ~ $300 to $1,000
Hotel room (5 days) ~ $850
Eating expenses (5 days) ~ $200
Taxi & tips OR car rental ~ $400
The chance of a lifetime to make our "CC parents" wedding cake ~ PRICELESS

We could all pitch in $1 and that would be about $4000 to cover the contest winner's expenses which would enable overseas CC members the opportunity too thumbs_up.gif

Even if only 400 people wanted to pitch in, that would be about $10 each to help the winner. I believe we have enough CC members who would be willing and able to do this thumbs_up.gif

Or we could all send cupcakes... then they'd have enough beautiful cupcakes to do a huge cupcake cake. icon_smile.gif (Or mini-tiers... whatever mini-cake you can come up with...)

Man, the dry-ice suppliers around the world would be rejoicing if they heard about ideas like this... -grin-

Congrats, Heath and Jackie!!!

Wow I never knew how many mentally ill people with great imaginations here on CC (kidding). I am anxious to hear what Heath and Jackie come up with. I would be willing to donate money to the winner for all expenses paid. That would be awesome.
