That I promise myself that I will NEVER do another last minute cake and next thing I know someone gives me a sob story and I cave? Unbelievable.

I've turned down all cakes for this week due to the heat. I have no air conditioning and have been worried about their outcome.

This sweet woman shows up at my home today (7am) and says
she needs a b'day cake. Okay, I ask when? TODAY. So I tell her that it's not possible. Next thing I know she tells me she knew my dad (he's been gone for 26 yrs) and about her dh (who was a friend of my dads) and how she has been living on social security since he died!

Well long story short, I made her granddaughter's cake today and reminissed and I think I'll just keep on believing the sob stories. I got to remember what is important in life. LOVE

That's right Joann~ You will get more jewels in your crown when you get to heaven for sharing that LOVE!!! Making cakes is LOVE!! (I think I just made up a new motto!!)

On the other hand... someone's poor planning isn't always someone elses emergency. I think Briansbaker said that before~ icon_smile.gif

So if you feel it's LOVE then it is!! Keep on spreading it!!

Ty tcturtleshell for those kind words. I was thinking later. after she left, that time flies. I was 21 when he died yet it seems like yesterday. She grew up with him which makes her 82. I met a special woman today.

Ahhh that is special! You did meet a special woman!

I was looking at wedding cakes yesterday (on here)I saw one that a member had made for her grandson (can't remember who is was though). I thought that was awesome!! If my gma made my wedding cake it would have made that day so much more special to me! I hope that grandson knows how special he is to have his gma do his cake!!

My gma passed away in Feb, me & my mom found her 50 wedding cake topper! I'm the only cake decorator in the family so it was given to me!! I'll cherish it forever!!

Tc that is so special I would cherish that for ever too! It's hard when you lose someone you love. My dad 26 yrs ago and my mom 6 yrs ago. I think that this wonderful woman just made me remember everything I lost and yet everything I still have in life.

Thank You Samsgranny and bless you too. You are a great inspriation to all of us.

It's always nice to remember your loved ones as you knew & loved them! You should keep in touch with that lady. She might have more things to tell you about. How sweet!
