OK I e-mailed the company on the website and told them my trouble. to soft not sticking well ect.THEY CALLED ME TODAY. Mind you I only emailed them this morning.
The said YES! contact them.
I told them I knew a LOT of people "decorators" not happy (all you)
They asked
1. what trouble are you having?
2 Here are the suggestions-2 TB cornstarch per cup of shortening used
or 1 TB Meringue per cup used.
Also stir by hand after mixing.
they also asked for my recipies. For testing purposes. So they can see how real decorators make icing and can fix the problem.
They would send it to the main testing area as it was being typed. She said they were keeping track of complaints and are going to try to fix the problem. So contact them!!! PLEASE>

Here is the contact page!
I am so glad I found this forum, I thought it was something I was doing that was making the icing softer then usual, darn I will have to try and add the cornstarch as noted here.
I had the same horrible problem on a wedding cake and a hot day at that.....I've thickened my buttercream, frosting my cake at night, fridgerating overnight and the last 3 cakes have been fine with the darn new Crisco.....I'm using just a tad thicker consistency than the Wilton medium consistency I think......
I am lucky enough to have a huge stock of the old Crisco to last me for quite some time...
BUT...
I contacted them as well, in hopes of getting through to them.
I also contacted them last week and spoke with them again this morning. They sent two coupons for their product which I may not even use.
Here's a picture of the problem I encountered while making buttercream. After 4 hours there was separation as well as another batch overnight. I placed a toothpic into the liquid to show them (FYI: Crisco is made by Smucker's).
I think that what I find amazing about this whole Crisco situation is that Crisco didn't realize how many cake decorators that were out here using their product. You would think they would have experimented with icing before they came out with the "New Trans Fat Free" Crisco. They say that they tried it on all different types of receipes. Obviously they didn't try it in icing. I bet that they will realize it now with so many changing to another product.

Good thing I ran into Costco the other day and they had an entire flat of the old stuff!!! I am going back tomorrow to buy what will fit in my car! (And get a hot dog - for all of you Costco shoppers!) ![]()

That's great to know that they seem to be paying attention!!! (Now if those of us who use Duncan Hines could only get them to listen....) Anyway, thankfully, I still have some of the "regular" Crisco left and have not had to use the new version yet. I'm petrified for my "stash" to run out; I've been reading about the problems everyone is having and think I'll email Crisco too. Thanks for the info!!
I sent Crisco an email. I passed up purchasing 2 big Costco-size cans of the stuff. The photo posted above is worth a thousand words!!! Wow!! Just like mine!! Mine turned out so disgusting & gross. I'm using my 'crappy' frosting on my family and my 'good' frosting on those needing to be impressed! Ha ha ha! I sure hope Crisco fixes this mess they made for us all!! I'll be watching this thread.
