i was just looking around the net for ideas for a ship cake when i saw this.....

tell me what you think when you first see it...
I like it!! Fun, yet quite large!!!!!!!!!
Angie
WOW!! it's not the most beautiful cake, but wow it's soo big!!!
It's size is impressive but I don't think that it photographs well. It probably looked better in person (I hope) but I personally would not pick the design for myself.
i do not care much for the design...but the bride and the groom probably did because they were the ones who chose it (presuming)...
Wow! I like it too! Is it actually shaped like a ship and it's just hard to tell from that angle? I think it's too cool!
If each layer is 12" tall, how do you figure servings?
Even 2" x 1" would be like eating half a small cake. That cake is massive. It doesn't seem like it could taste very good.
And no mention of filling
I mean that would be assumed right?
LOL
well goes to show size doesnt matter
Cause I've seen ten times over more gorgeous works of art on this site ![]()
The shape looks hexagon to me and the flowers are horrid. If you look at the brides face it's like she's saying "what the....." If it took six pastry chefs to make that , I hate to see what they usually make. If they were going all out for this wedding, why didn't they just get Collette Peters to do the cake, I'm sure she would have come up with something much much better for the wedding.
Eww! That is one big fat ugly cake! I sure hope it tasted better than it looks. And whose idea was the style anyway, I wonder? I guess we will never know the answers.
It only took "2 hours to bake"... well if I had enough ovens to equip a cruise ship kitchen, and a staff of who knows how many, I could bake a cake that size in 2 hours too.
I have a guess about how they served it. I think each 12" tier is divided into (3) 4" 2-layer cakes (x 40" OMG...you'd need a forklift to lift the layers into place), with a cakeboard between the layer cakes, for ease in serving. I can't imagine how they would serve it otherwise.
It's not my style...
However, it's not hideous. Like the green/pink color scheme. Think the small flowers look like polka dots from a distance.
What a special day for the bride and groom. I always enjoyed Love Boat although now it would seem so unsophisticated and even silly....
Just because we don't like a cake's appearance, I don't think we should cut it down.
Obviously, the bakers/decorators thought they created a thing of beauty - and we all know that beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
cha-ching!
someone made a whole lot of money foing the ugly thing.
