It DOES look like POPCORN!! icon_surprised.gif

However--had the flowers been more "size appropriate" and not so very MANY of them--it would have been ok.

Too "busy" for me, personally--but that's a hell of an undertaking! A cake that size? Sheesh... icon_twisted.gif

I always was so jealous of Jill Whelan when I grew up watching her on Love Boat! Now she's had a wonderful wedding--and she looks fantastic, too--I'm impressed.

Wow..I sure hope none of the people who decorated this cake are members here. Wouldn't that be horrible to see your cake getting trashed by everyone. If this was a member's cake would you guys be talking about it like this?
I totally get that we all have the right to our opinions....but this just seems a bit harsh.

Heard about this wedding, because she was on the Love Boat since she was a young kid, they were married on the ship.

Way to much cake, but it was a celeb wedding, not surprising that there was overkill.

I don't think it's bad at all! It's huge, and the flowers are a little small for the size of the cake, but I don't think it's ugly! Gessh everyone, give a girl a break on her wedding cake! We've all made cakes that weren't our "style" or we wouldn't have chosen, but I'm sure the bride loved it!

Eww! It looks like they scraped the barnacles off the side of the boat and put them on the cake.

It's not a cake I would have chosen but then again I can't imagine 1300 guests at my wedding. As the saying goes "Whatever floats your boat." (Okay that was a bad pun :} )

The size is amazing!!! 5000 marzipan flowers?!? And 1300 guests?!? WOW!!! Impressive piece of work for the work that went into it. I don't care for the style either, but different strokes for different folks icon_biggrin.gif .

Now I know why service is so slow in the dining room on board the ship. They have everyone in the kitchen making 5000 ugly little flowers...what a waste.

icon_eek.gificon_eek.gificon_surprised.gif ......I was going to just back right out of this one....but I can't

truth is Im sure we could all go through the galleries here and find some cakes that aren't up to our own taste, that we find tacky, overdone, not properly put together.....and I guarantee if someone posted so......there isnt one member in this thread that wouldn't jump that poster's ass....it's the hypocrisy like this that has made me done with this site...

I wish you all the best....and hope that no one ever starts a post about how bad one of your own cakes looked....

I am locking this thread.

I don't see anything constructive coming from it and I do agree that if the photo were posted by a member here it would never get this kind of criticism.
