Here's my situation - I want to do a stand up image of Tinkerbell on my daughter's birthday cake. I found a black and white image (it didn't have a trademark symbol on it anywhere) that I colored with Photoshop. I don't have access to an edible image printer and my local bakery will only print photographs on edible paper. I guess if I have to I can just make a buttercream transfer - I just think the stand up image would be cuter.

Thanks in advance
Jenn

you could do a chocolate transfer...like FBCT but done w/ melted chocolate...easily stands up when done (and so much more tasty than the royal icing method)

I could print it for you, but I don't have photo paper, but computer paper and that might not work.
Maybe there is someone else who can help, good luck.

If worse comes to worse, you could do a chocolate transfer which is just like buttercream, but with chocolate and it would stand up.

I've been here all of 5 minutes and I've already learned something new. I might have to give the chocolate thing a try. Can I use white chocolate and color it??

Thanks for the great advice.

definately can use white chocolate and color it with colors made for that purpose (reg. cake color won't work well..need kind for making chocolate candies)

OR

just use the pre-colored candy melts if the colors are close enough.

Couldn't you take the file to a local print lab?

Have the bakery print it on the edible paper and then place that on a piece on fondant and cut it out. Let it try and it will stand up. I have done that a few times for cakes.

If you can't get an edible image I would do a color flow. I really enjoy working with color flow, and they dry hard so they stand up easy.
