We are getting a small windfall in the next month or so and i'm looking to put a bit of money into some cake "stuff". I know I want to get a set of magic line pans because i'm tired of my stacked cakes having a bit of an hourglass shape to them w/ my wilton ones. I already have the basics (bags, colors, tips, etc) and of couse my KA mixer (best Christmas present I ever bought myself!).

What is the best thing you ever bought under $100?

Over $100?

TIA!

Under $100:
Revolving cakestand--I just have the cheapy Wilton one but I love it!
Don't know how I did cakes for years without one.

Books--you probably have some, but a good cake decorating library is
worth the money. Most have step-by-step instructions, tips and of
course the awesome color photos of thier gorgeous works of art!

Embossing mats
Selection of cutters
Good quality paint brushes in all sizes--round and flat

Punching bag---great stress reliever!! (or one of those dolls with
velcroed arms and legs you can scream at while ripping OFF the arms
and legs! LOL!

under $100 - any one of my CK lace or rope border molds or bead makers. So easy to use, but gives a cake that "wow"factor

over $100 - my Kitchenaid 5 qt. mixer and double ovens in my kitchen. Baking takes so much less time this way. thumbs_up.gif

Magic Line pans are a must! icon_smile.gif Also... Exacto knife (I use it on fondant, cutting cake boards etc), extra KA bowls & lids, my tool box kit for tips & everything I can shove in there icon_lol.gif , also the rubber maid 7-drawer keeper thing. Hmmmm I know there are more but that's all I came up with thumbs_up.gif

Thanks for all the tips.

rezzycakes - The foam roller has to be one of the greatest tips i've ever gotten from this board! I would spend the better part of an hour trying to get my cakes perfectly smooth and now it takes about five minutes. I did a cake from my son last weekend and didn't bother putting a top border on the bottom cake because I didn't think it really needed one. That's definitely a first for me!

moniquerei - may I ask what kind of airbrush you have and where you got it? It's on my list but I hadn't been able to find on under $100.

THanks!
