I made a birthday cake for Dan Truman's son and a graduation cake for another son. (Dan Truman is the keyboard player in "Diamond Rio" -- he also writes a lot of their music/songs). He's a friend of ours.
A few years ago when I worked in a bakery in Chicago, I decorated Tim Meadow's wedding cake (formerly of Saturday Night Live fame).

I didn't make a cake for a celebrity, but I did make a cookie that looked like a cd cover with all the titles of the artists cds on it. It was for smooth jazz saxophonist Najee. I gave it to his brother before the show; he was very impresssed and told me to wait around after the show because Najee wanted to thank me. After the show, he came out for a meet and greet and saved me for last. He asked me my name and told me that he couldn't eat it because he just had to save it and put it on display. I told them it was my very first attempt at a cookie (so I was glad that he didn't want to eat it, I didn't have time to experiment with flavors it was a last minute idea) They wanted to know how I did it and they really listened when I gave them a very brief recap and I felt so special. And he is sssooo fine!!!! Going to see him perform was my mother's day gift to myself; I went by myself and it was great!
This is a great idea for a thread! I'll be watching this with great interest.
BTW, Tim Meadows is way cool!
The closest I came to decorating a cake for a celebrity was doing a cast party cake for a local theatre - because I was dating one of the actors (who has had numerous bit parts in TV shows - but you wouldn't know his name). It turned out great - and everybody raved. But I was up all night - so I missed the whole party because I went back into his bedroom and passed out (they thought I was rude- LOL!).
I dated a couple of other pseudo-celebrities - but never made a cake for either of them.
I provided the centerpiece cakes for two annual banquets in which my cakes were served to high-ranking Texas Republicans, such as Gov. Rick Perry, David Dewhurst, some congressmen, judges, etc., and also Sean Hannity, who was the keynote speaker at one of those banquets. That was fun - 85 decorated chocolate cakes one year and 100 the next. LOL
GREAT thread, pyseas!!!!!
I'll be watching this one too!!

My neice is an unheard of (so far) Hollywood actress but one day when she is famous I will post on this thread!! ![]()
I don't know if this counts since it was done for the particular celeb but....
I did a cake based on a CD cover for my nephew. It was a Rick Springfield CD, it was called "Day after Yesterday" and it looked like the earth was splitting in two. My nephew & brother-in-law are big RS fans. They have been to lots of his concerts and my nephew has been on stage with him multiple times since he was 3 (he's 11 now.) They went to a concert shortly after I made the cake and they took a picture of the cake with them. They said when they showed him the picture that he said he thought it was awesome. He also autographed it for me. I think I could have done a much better job on the cake but I keep that picture in my porfolio album for all to see.
OK, this is a bit of a stretch, but here goes. A famous website "Television without Pity" (TWOP) recaps lots of shows. Their recappers are so funny. Anyway, they have a big event in NYC for The Amazing Race. One year I made 500 cookies for them using their logo (Tubey). It's a cute mascot that resembles a TV. When Phil Keoghan (the host of The Amazing Race) arrived he grabbed one of my cookies and ate it. My DIL and I love Phil so for a long time I would sing "Phil ate one of my cookies", and she would always say I was almost famous and she knew me when! LOL
