I am doing a grad cake tonite that includes a picture of the grad. I called several local grocery stores (Kroger and local chain, Marsh) and found no one wants to do edible images any more.

Finally found a Wal-Mart that agreed to do it, but the quality was so awful, I ended up just laminating the original photograph. They even re-ran the image x 3 to no avail.

If I did more cakes, I'd invest in a dedicated printer, but just not cost-effective at this time. For those without printers, where are you buying edible images?

Thanks.

Let me qualify that....they'd do the edible image and put on a cake, but not just sell me the image.

I've bought photo images from two different places (by mail order). The first (I can't remember where), the picture quality did not turn out well, but I used it anyway. The second I just ordered from Sugarcraft last month and it turned out really good. Shipping cost was a real kicker though, so I bought some other stuff to make it worthwhile.

I was buying mine from Publix (grocery chain here in Florida), but they were so faded looking. Now I buy them from a bakery. It took me a while to find one that would do it (most required that you bought a cake too)... but I finally found one sympathetic lady at a local shop, and the few times I've needed one done, she's been great. Maybe call your local cake shops and see if they can help.

I've heard some of the online places have great resolution to their pics... you just have to have enough time to get it sent to you.

Hi there. In the last month I've started printing my own edible images and the output is awesome. I do buy my supplies in bulk as we sell them in our store. If you would like more info you can email me at [email protected] - I'm not trying to promote my business but maybe offer a helping "edible image" hand to ya. icon_smile.gif

Ladeebug,
I just purchased one online from tc4cake here..........she was absolutely incredible as far as customer service, shipping costs were very reasonable........I emailed her a photo, which was not the best quality, and she printed and shipped it priority mail to me ....my deadline was Thursday (last night), and she tracked it for me daily, and contacted the post office when it didn't appear to have moved..........she went above and beyond what a normal person does for customers, and I will use her again for my images, and any other cake supplies I order online!

You might even try some of those ice cream store chains like Carvel and Baskin-Robbins that put edible images on their ice cream cakes. They might be willing to sell you a sheet.

Bel Air has been great about doing them for me, I think it was $5!

You can order them from icingimages.com too. Search "photo cakes" on line and several places will pop up - many of them will sell you the frosting sheet.
