I made a anniversary cake and it did come out bright and a bit out of the normal molds as far as cakes go. I even wrote that I wasn't all that happy with the way it came out. Well someone wrote "I hope you served lots of alcohol". I am very new to making cakes. How rude to say something like that!! I can't find a way to delete the comment. Does anyone know if I can delete it?

Thanks, Kim

I don't think you can delete them, but is there a way to "report a bad post" or "report abuse" or something? Some forums have that option, but I haven't checked this one...the only sensible other option is to totally not respond to the poster, since they're usually just trying to get things stirred up, and ignoring them is the only way to defeat that purpose.

That is just SO uncalled for. Just tell yourself you have better things to do than let crazy people make you crazy...icon_smile.gif

There is a way--

Look right at the bottom of that poster's note...There's a yellow ! button that says "Report a bad post!"

Click it and see what happens...

you can't delete others comments, but . . .before you ask the moderator to do it, take a deep breath.

Even though you can't see anything but mean in the comment, it may well have been meant as a joke, as lighthearted teasing, whatever. it is impossible o tell "tone" when reading comments, especially if you don't know the person.

And if you DOn'T know the person, don't worry about his/her comment even if it were meant meanly.. . water off a duck's back.

Don't worry about deleting it. 1. Nobody is perfect, least of all 24/7
2. they are only making themselves look bad....remember, you reap what you sow. 3. you are going to run into some harsh people in this business, and you need to learn to let it roll off your back. There is no possible way to please everyone, and it's useless to try.

4. Most importantly...I've seen the cake in question. It's very cute, colorful, and festive. Plus, you got 6 positive comments to 1 nasty. They are obviously outvoted. They lose.

Buck up little camper, you have lot of talent, and you can't let one rain cloud ruin your parade.

hey my2sunshines,
I wouldn't let that comment, upset me if I were you.
Some people have such a low opinion of thier own, work that they feel the need to lash out at others. Keep your head up you are a great decorator.

So sorry someone had to make you feel bad, but I agree with evereyone else. They are the ones that look bad, and if you want it deleted, you should go for it. If you need anyone else to request it too, PM me. I saw your cake and there was no call for that nasty of a remark. BTW....Love your turtle!!!! icon_lol.gif

I think your cake is AWESOME. I love the colors, and the design of the icing on the sides.

And don't feel bad. Take a look at my cakes if you want a laugh. icon_lol.gif

I won't feel bad, because I am teaching myself as I go, and I know they are better than some, and worse than others.

So just remember, don't worry about what others think of them, as long as you like them, and you gave it your best. thumbs_up.gif

I think I may keep it now as a "minor" cake wound to wear proudly icon_smile.gif. It will also remind me of how many good people posted nice comments to make another cake decorater feel better. icon_biggrin.gif

Yep, people who work so hard to upset others do that because they themselves are sad, bitter people. Consider the source, and forget it. Your cake is adorable, and I love the sunflowers.

I am so sorry that someone hurt your feelings. I know i am sensitive too, to anything that I create. I was worried about my first paid cake. It just wasnt what I had envisioned. Anyway, my husband said it looked "fine" and he said "I am sure they will think it is fine" It really wasnt even a mean comment, but I was up all night worrying about it. I didn't want it to be just "fine" I wanted him to say it looked "great"! Maybe this person is a man...some just arent as sensitive to other peoples feelings as women are icon_biggrin.gif . BTW I think your cake was really creative and I loved the sunflowers, were they chocolate?

Your cake looks great. I love the funky colors and your sunflowers are perfect. Don't worry about what one person has to say. You know you did well and that's what matters.

well....i think it's (to adapt from you) got both "funk" and "flair" and it's a great job too!

tho' you did leave me w/ three questions:

1) where did you get the sunflower mold? what an excellent touch

2) ok...what did you use as the riser between the tiers and what's inside it!?!?

3) did you make the intials yourself?? if you did, you deserve even more kudos and applause!!

(by the way..purple and yellow are not only fun & festive...but also royally regal colors!!)

luv it luv it luv it!

Well I for one, think your cake is awesome! Very creative. The sunflowers are very well done, and I love the color combo.

Paid no attention to the "alcohol" comment. I know that is easier said than done, and it would bother me a great deal as well, but your good comments definitely outweigh the single little off color one.

Keep up the Fantastic work!

looking at all your cakes they have one thing in common, they are all very colorful and vibrant.
And from looking at your avatar and your cakes you seem to be a colorful and vibrant personality. Don't ever lose that and don't let the b******'s get cha down.
Look on the bright side, hun, I think a mimosa (lol) would set all those flavors off brilliantly, (when life gives ya lemons make margharita's) lol. I love the cake. soooo CHEERFUL!!!

When you posted your cake to view, I said to myself wow, what a unique cake so colorful and sunflowers so big! (I don't post often, and usually few words when I do) I thought maybe the sunflowers were plastic decorations, didn't know large candy molds were sold that size. I love sunflowers and have grown them myself. I would love to find different candy molds like the sunflower but I am having a hard time finding them in my city.

Keep your head up and keep decorating.

One of the drawbacks about emails and the net is we can't see the facial expression of the messenger. This is one of the things that I learned the hardway when a message sent to my son was taken the wrong way. it probably wouldn't seem so terrible if the person told you this in person and especially if it was made after a dialogue about it with you. We have all done these things, said things inappropriatly only to regret it later. Now, after reading all the posts about this the "perpretrator" is feeling as badly as you are ---- hope so anyway.
