I rec'd a birthday cake order for a woman's 27 year old son who is kind of an entertainer....he sings, plays piano and gives voice lessons. She wants me to incorporate "27 platinum albums" somehow. I'm not sure where to start! Any ideas would be appreciated! She's looking for something very original!
Thank you!

Put his name in lights like a big boxoffice sign. You could even use some of those battery powered mini lights around it.

Maybe you could do the piano cake on top of a base that had 27 "platinum" fondant albums attached just over the border.-somewhat original.

OR... if you can get an edible image of his face...
You could make it look like a magazine cover announcing his "awards" and exclusive interview.

Let us know what you are working with... Sheet cake or something stacked? Then we can go from there...

Maybe do a round cake and make it look like a record and brush on luster dust to make it look like platinum.

Thank you for all the wonderful responses! I'm working on the cake as we speak, and am trying to draw my design on paper....still a little stumped. It is an 8" round with 6" round on top. Customer wanted 2-tier stacked. It will be buttercream on the outside. I really liked the swirvy design at the top of the marquee that mgdqueen posted. Maybe incorporate that somehow on the top?

Jenn posted that icon_wink.gif

Maybe do the marquee sign on top with musical notes around the sides of the bottom (or both) layers? I saw a VERY cool orchestra cake on here not too long ago...going to have to hunt it down now!

okay-I didn't find the one I wanted, but if you type in "music cake" in the search and look in the albums, there are several that would give you some great ideas! People on this site are so talented!!
