My 1St Sale And Disaster All In 5 Mins!!!
Decorating By Brandonsmommy Updated 26 May 2007 , 2:08am by Brandonsmommy
I was so excited to sell my first ANYTHING cake.
It was a cupcake Bouquet. Turned out GREAT.
I was so excited. I met my friend 1/2 between our houses, Talked for a few minutes then we went on our own way.
About 5 mins later (IF that) she calls me............
"where are you?"
"Up the road, by Perkins Why?"
"Can you come back this way?"
"Why? What did you do?"
I just need you..........You need to just come, meet me @.........
I was like OMG she turned too quick, she got the tops all messed up. I played all the things I was going to say to her. Not my responsibility. I shouldn't have put it in the car. Does that make me responsible. I wont do that again, you know trying to make sure i had my ducks in a row.........
Well YES the bouquet IS ruined BUT she got into an accident.
OMG are you ok? Yes, look in my car.........never mind that are YOU ok? Yes but my cupcakes.......my cupcakes Judi, they are ruined ![]()
Well, yes, yes they are (it was NOT my friends fault at all, the lady even said that).
Now, this girl IS my frined. I don't want her to be out a product but I don't want to be out $ either. I am going to meet with her tomorrow for her to get the other bouquet. (orginally she wanted 2 then changed her mind
but I was going to have DH bring to work just to get rid of the cuppers) I guess I made 2 for a reason. I told her that tomorrow she needs to talk to this lady (who again, admits it was her fault for the accident) and have her replace the $$ for the bouquet. DH said to have friend pay me again for the new one, and have that driver replace the $$ to friend so all is well. He says it's not MY fault and "I" shouldn't be out the $$. I don't either but I honestly don't know if this other lady will go for it. I stuck around, cleaned out her (my friend's) car. Made a point, more than once, that there was no way I could repair the cupcakes nor could I afford to just give her the other one for free. This lady never said a word about it. My friend is going to talk to the driver in the AM and again talk to her about the $$ for the bouquet.
Sorry this got long. I am just disappointed that this has happened to my friend and it has to be a friend b/c I really could just be a #itch and not replace w/o 1st getting $$ for the other one. But since it is a friend I don't want it to affect us either. (did ANY of that make sense?? haha)
Thanks again for listening, I know I am new and this a crappy way of introdudcing myself.

<-------I just like the buggy eyed guy
hahaha
awww... i am so sorry. do you have a photo to show us before they were in the accident?
welcome to cc, though. you will love it here.
Welcome to CC!!! I am so sorry your first post is on a decorating disaster!
I think that there should be no hard feelings and you should just make another bouquet. Things happen, and if you just make it you will feel better knowing that you helped a friend out. Yeah, sure...get that other lady to pay for it!! But, in the meantime that is not your greatest concern. Keep the friendship what is a few dollars. And you never know! She may do something nice or needed for you in return real soon!
Wow, I"m sorry this happened to you and your friend. You said you were going to send the extra bouquet into work with your DH to get rid of them ( I'm assuming you weren't going to charge anyone) so why not just give them to your friend as an "Sorry you got into an accident" pick me-up gift! ![]()
I'm so sorry - but at least your friend is okay. I'd agree with the others - just give your friend the other bouquet. She has enough to worry about and you had the extra anyway. Sorry your 1st sale didn't go according to plan!
I had this happen to me too - but not for a paying customer. I was making a Lightening McQueen cake for practive and had my husband take it in to work for his employees. Well, he got rear ended on the freeway, and poor little Lightening McQueen had a bit of a fender bender too. He smashed up into the cake carrier and "dented" in his bumper. The guys at hubby's work didn't care. But of course, when hubby called me telling me he was in an accident, my first thought was, "but how's the CAKE???" ![]()
Yeeshh... you guys are all sooo nice! I think maybe I've become a little hardened over time (like stale cookies). I do agree with the husband, friend should pay - then she can be re-imbursed by the party at fault. I'll admit that I would probably give my friend the second bouquet, with the understanding that regardless of what happens with her accident settlement, payment is expected by such and such date. I'd also mention if the other woman thinks having to replace the bouquet is unfair - what until she gets my cleaning bill for the car's interior!!! I believe both you and your friend have the right to have everything replaced back to the way it was before the accident - it is after all the other lady's error, not you or your friends.
I may also mention that if I was the friend, without question I would pay you for the second bouquet, and fully expect the person at fault to re-imburse that cost. I would never expect you (friend or not) to take a $ loss on something you had no involement in, or control over!
Well, I am on the fence on this one, since the other lady is responsible for the accident then I think she should pay. But if she does not I would not charge your friend, since you have a spare bouquet.
I know she originally ordered 2 but ... whatever you sent her with 1.
Now, before the next delivery, get a large enough box to put the bouquet in, and put in a piece of cardboard that is 3 - 4 inches larger on all 4 sides so you can fold the sides downs sort of like a table and then with a whole in it for the size of the container. if you can make it higher then do, Also make sure you put something under the "cardboard table" to keep the bouquet from moving. This should keep everything nice and tidy too. Put some plastic wrap on the top to keep it from getting dirty.
Good Luck
Hey!!
All is well in Cupcake land here! My friend did end up paying for the other cuppers .............. only it was with dinner and a glass of wine
