wilton tall tier stand can be adapted

just put together w/ smallest plate at bottom and work up through larger sizes

and...

better option is METAL as in stainless steel (food grade) or copper tubing (no acidic fillings!)

then can use metal flanges on the cake plates (masonite or wood or metal)

saw on one Cake Challenge that a decorator (mike?) did on and use a metal base, metal central support and flanges.

and to jkalman -- woo hoo --- I've been bested! great diagram!

It is interesting trying to figure this out. Maybe one of us will be ambiguous enough to put a 3 or 4 tier one together just for the heck of it. I may get really bored in the next week or two and need something challenging to do! icon_lol.gif

I hadn't even thought of the Wilton tall tier stand. I just pulled mine out and put it together upside down. It would definitely work. Thanks, I knew I could count on you guys for inspiration.

Well yes.. you'd have to make room for the support.. and I was thinking about metal, but wasn't sure if you could use it in a cake.. but I didn't think of food grade metal tubing.. Good call Doug!! And again.. it was just an idea.. that I threw together in a few minutes in Microsoft paint.. icon_wink.gif Not perfect by anymeans..

Since I read the first post in this thread I thought the same thing - those upsidedown Christmas trees! It's definitely a novelty, but I'm not sure if I like it or not.

Reminds me of when minivans first came on the market. I kept thinking they don't know whether they want them to be cars or vans. I couldn't stand the looks of them. Of course now I love my Honda Odyssey! Guess I could probably get used to them if I saw them frequently enough.

Wow! That would definately be the talk of the wedding if a bride did that. Guests would be talking about that cake for a long time. This would be a good wedding cake to do for a wedding show. People would be talking about it and stopping by just to see it.

It is expensive but this can be done easily using the stress free support system:

With this there is no stress on any of the tiers.
