Would any of you suggest a border on the top of this cake?? If so what kind and would I have to add a bottom border under the ribbon? Color? Sorry I don't have the actual cake pics but I'm assembling on site and still have to add the knots. The icing is CBTC.

Thanks in advance!

No bottom border - the ribbon is the bottom border.

If your icing is perfectly smooth, no need for a top border. If the edge is not smooth and clean, a small reverse shell border in the same color as the cake is iced would work fine.

Nice Design! I think it would look very elegant with out a top border if the icing is super smooth. No bottom border is necessary if using ribbon.

I think that no boarder is good but if you were to add a pearl style boarder. I still feel that no boarder is better.

I like it better without the border myself...that was my original idea for the cake but after icing for two days trying to get it "fondant perfect" as DH says I'm just really discouraged I guess. The icing is as smooth as I can get it without causing damage to it by trying to get it smoother. I think I've tried every trick imaginable to get it smooth. Maybe I'm just being too hard on myself?
Thank you all for your opinions!

just posted the pics....didn't turn out as well as I would have like icon_sad.gif Didn't help that the cake was moved around because the catering people weren't ready when they should have been!

I also agree. No border. The ribbon is enough. This should be a very beautiful cake. Can't wait to see the pictures! icon_smile.gif
