Wow!! Well I certainly didn't expect this many responses!! icon_surprised.gif

But thanks to you all for the great advice.

I also agree with those of you who said if you don't feel comfortable with the customer, don't do it.
I just turned down a customer last week because she was SUPER fussy and couldn't make up her mind what she wanted. She seemed to be going in circles because, I suspect, she wanted me to drop my price, which I wasn't willing to do. I don't bargain. My price is final and non-negotiable. She also has a real attitude and implies that she can do what I do.
If she could, then why was she ordering from me?? After I wouldn't drop my price, she came up with an excuse and cancelled the cake order from me, but then wanted to order something else. This was done the very same day we were to confirm the details of the cake and have her initial my order form. icon_eek.gif
Well, for my own sanity, I very politely refused her second order, saying I wasn't able to do it for that day.
I really didn't want to anyway, because I know there would be no way to please her.

Well, thanks again for all the great advice!

I don't know why sports teams use devils as their mascot! My hometown college is Northwest State University in Natchitoches, La. The mascot is the demons. Noone is the town has ever liked the name. I don't even know why it was chosen. I wouldn't do a demon cake either. Why can't it be the Tigers (Go LSU!!!) or the Saints!!! LOL!!

Good for you littlebubbies!
Ok Turtle Lady, I have to ask, how in the heck do you pronounce "Natchitoches"?
In Canada, that would likely be pronounced Natcheetosh because the ending appears French. So I am betting it is either French or Native American?

A baker friend of mine was approached by the brother of a groom. He absolutely hated the bride and wanted to embarrass her at her own wedding.

Apparently, he wanted to have a cake made for his brother's fiance to be presented at their wedding reception. It was to be a bed with the groom tied down on it and the bride in lingerie on top...very distasteful!

She actually made the cake...but refused to display it at the wedding. The chef for the evening let the groom into the back kitchen to see it. He laughed it off...but the bride was never told.

What a risk! I wouldn't have done it!!

Distasteful and cruel really. Imagine if the bride had seen it, it could have permanently ruined the relationship and also hurt her on her special day. Geesh, you would think the brother would have been more supportive of the groom's choice and shown some respect.
