From my view I think its a bunch of round cakes placed in a circle.

I've seen a cake like this in wilton's wedding cakes book - I believe the bottom is 5 round cakes with the bottom cake base resting on a part of each cake.

That's 7 six inch cakes on one solid board. You should secure them with icing.

Dowel those cakes where the cake above will be sitting on them. And, just stack as you normally would...with a board & dowel.

DUH ME!!!!!!!!! I didn't even see that fountain, or the plate for that matter, sorry it's been a long day!!!!!

I had a wilton book lying here and it does say that there are seven round cakes. (I meant one in the center underneath.)

But, this cake in the wilton book had a cake on top of it, not a fountain. icon_redface.gif (I guess that's what I get for trying to do too many things at once...)

For the life of me, I don't see cake in the middle. I see a solid surface, topped by a HUGE plastic plate, topped by a fountain and tall columns with lots of flowers to hide all the architecture. A cake this big needs plywood and big, monster screws - maybe a carriage bolt or two! I can't imagine holding all that together with dowels. UGH!

Pretty, though..ain't it?

The cake you have pictured is in WILTON WEDDINGS. It is on page 30 and called LOVE'S IMPRESSION.

The directions state:

At reception position 6 8 inch cakes in a circle, place wood or styrofoam block (measuring as tall as 8 inch tier and board) in center of cakes. Place 18 inch plate on top. Assemble fountain, position stacked tiers on pillars. Pipe tip 14 scallop aroumd edge of plate. Arrange fresh flowers in holders and position ornament, bridesmaids and groomsmen.

If you need the full instructions PM and I will send them to you!

Hope this helps!

If you'll go to Wilton's website and type in "Love's Impression" in the search box, it will pull up this cake and the complete instructions.
