Ok here's the story. A friend took one of my speciality scuplted tomato shapped cakes to an italian restraunt for a dessert after dinner there. At least 7 people approached her with questions for where she got it and does she have business cards?!?!?! thumbs_up.gif

Woulden't it be fun to just stage BD parties at some nice restraunts and bring a fancy cake just to pass out business cards!!! icon_lol.gif

I'm just weeks away from being legal, I'm going to try it and see what happens at my first opportunity.

It does work! I took the Elvis cake I did to a restaurant for my aunt's birthday party and was also asked for business cards.

However, many of the nicer places don't allow cakes to be brought in. So be sure you call ahead.

I've considered bringing my kids to Chuck e Cheese's and such and pretending it's their party to hand out cards....

Creative advertising. Make sure you check with the restaurant before bringing in a cake though. Many places do not allow outside food to be brought in.

I thought about this one too. I only have one child so I thought about "borrowing" someone elses kids icon_biggrin.gif

I have five kids that I'll rent out cheap!!! You have to feed them....add boys so you better be ready!!

Yes, that is a clever idea. I wonder if you could write your dinner off then as a business meeting?? LOL!!

I've had a version of this happen to me. I was carrying a cake into a bowling alley for a baby shower and got stopped 4 times asking for a business card.

I just ordered new business checks through Checks In the Mail and they have a cool cake icon that you can put next to your name (where a monogram would go). I added a text line above the signature line that says 'Custom cakes and cookies for your special occasions'. Now, everytime I write a check, I'm advertising! WOOT! I rarely write checks, usually use my debit card, but I may write more now! icon_lol.gif

I LOVE the idea of staging birthdays to sneak in promoting yourself. Hmmm.... I'm taking my Mom to lunch on Wednesday, I'll have to call and see if the restaurant will let me bring something in!

I was carrying a cake into Chuck E/ Cheese for a friend of mine (Kahia Blue in my photos) and a lady stopped me that was driving by asking where I had gotten the cake. Ofcourse she was handed a card. I've gotten several new customers this way. It's great!

my sister made a cake for her daughters birthday and when they were done with dinner they cut the cake. They had cake left over so she past the leftovers out to all the staff there (if they wanted some). She then left some business cards on the table. Worked like a charm!!! Two orders!! Ta Da!!!
