My mother's office contracted me in January to make 4 cakes for them this year BUT when the company didn't want to pay for it, 4 managers got together and decided they would each take a turn and pay for the cakes. I made on in January and they loved it and I have one due this week which is my mom's turn to pay for it.
The other two managers have now decided that they want to buy the last two cakes somewhere else because they don't want to pay the $35 for the 10 inch birthday cakes they contracted me to make in January. It isn't because they don't like my cake but because my mom says they are cheap and want to go to Cosco.
ANYWAY - I want to make a cake that is so good, they will regret wanting to buy their cakes somewhere else. They have requested chocolate this month and I want to make it super delicious. I was wondering if anyoine could give me recipe suggestions or combinations of cake and fillings that will make them want more! I ws thinking of a choclate cake with cookies and cream filling and a chocolate icing on the side and buttercream on top. Do you think adding caramel to that mixture is too much?
Suggestions appreciated!!
ok how's about this?
cake: dark chocolate w/ chocolate chips mixed in batter.
filling: 3!!! one layer raspberry, one layer of cookies and cream and one layer of chocolate mousse or caramel mousse (mix w/ bc for lighter effect)
then a crumb coat of chocolate BC
finished off w/ dark chocolate ganache
and white chocolate roses, etc.
Doug,
My blood sugar spiked just thinking about that combo. What a Yum!

LOL!
i need to join chocoholics anonymous!

oh yea --- another flavor to add somewhere --- MOCHA!
(the cake? a filling? the crumb coat? the ganache?)
Doug, that sounds simply delicious...but after eating something like that, I wouldn't have blood anymore...chocolate would be in my veins, lol
...Maybe that's not such a bad thing...hmmmm
i personally LOVE the Hershey Bar cake. It is a chocolate fudge cake with a cool whipped icing with shaved hershey bars...
After read about all this chocolate, I think I need a bottle of water. lol
Doug....... You have such great suggestions!
chocolate fudge cake, oreo cookies & cream cheese filling, buttercream icing, covered with chocolate ganache, drizzle caramel over the top in criss cross pattern add nuts if you like. mmmmmmmmmm so good!!
Here is a link to a chocolate buttercream recipe tons of people here on CC RAVE about!

Cover a chocolate cake with a raspberry filling with it and you have a hit!
i think mocha should for sure be mixed in there somewhere!!!! the ganache also!!! I hope they drool!!!!
After you ice the cake in chocolate BC, add a chocolate wrap, along with chocolate curls on the top!
Maybe you should make individual cakes and leave those two out!!! lol
was that to harsh????
Chocolate with raspberry is SO YUM, but if you're trying to impress the guys in the office, go with chocolate cake with pb or cookies and cream filling. Mmmm....or you could try making a filling using peanuts, caramel, and a chocolate mousse (?) like a snickers bar.
I guarantee that EVEN if you don't make a kick arse cake....they'll go get their cheap cake at Cosco and be so unimpressed when compared to the cakes of yours that they've already tasted. They'll come back to you for the fourth cake, guaranteed.

Ditto for me. I was just going to suggest a rapberry mousse, but that combo sound really good.
GoodLuck
Ok here you go....
Dark Chocolate cake..but make it a little denser....I have a recipe listed for PB Mousse but you can trade out the PB for Nutella. Someone else tried it and said it it was really good so I made it to and OMG! Anyways- Dark Chocolate cake with layers of the Nutella Mousse, and White Choc. Ganache. Cover in a Choc. Ganache. Drizzle Caramel over the top with crushed hazel/macadamia nuts. Whipped cream rosettes.
