My grocery store confession...
Forgive me fellow cake decorators for I have sinned. I have on several occasions given into temptation that is McCain Deep and Delicious cake. I know its a horrible thing to give into but it is actually good at 11pm when the chocolate craving hits like a head on collision.
*Walks alway hanging her head in shame....*
ge,
buying a cake is a horrible thing when you look at the ingredients. More specifically the preservative list!!
Peachshortcake : You look at the ingredients?!!! You've been doing it wrong all this time! See this is what you do...go pick out a cake, take it home, grab a fork(optional
) & pig out!!!!!!!!!!!! If you are going to consume the calories anyway, you may as well do it guilt free! Just pretend it has no calories....hmmm maybe that's why I have 15 more pounds to lose ![]()
Twinsy and GE, do you mean to imply that I would BUY a cake or cookies?!?! ("sputter, huff, harumpf") That's SACRILEGIOUS!! ![]()
![]()
Well, ok........there WAS this little double chocolate cake I bought a couple days ago.....but it was REALLY LITTLE and shouldn't count!!
oh, and the carmel coffee cake I got......
oh yeah, and the Oreo double stuff cookies........
and the Little Debbie Swiss Rolls..........
Oh MY!! ![]()

If I could find that &%*$#@& Sara Lee cake that I love I would be eating it right now. It came in the freezer section and you had to let it thaw a while before you could eat it. It was sooo hard to wait for those puppies to thaw!
I scarfed down many of these in junior high school. The chocolate and banana were my favorites. I just love cold cake and these were fantabulous. Anyone remember these? They came in an aluminum container with a thin piece of cardboard or something on the top that you took off. It was frozen cake already frosted. I guess they stopped making them. I haven't been able to find them for years! ![]()
I don't want to encourage your bad habit
but have you thought about emailing the Sara Lee company to find out what happened to them? If nothing else they might send you a certificate to try one of the new cakes! ![]()
I am on strike! Sure as heck ain't making my own! Oreos at Wallymart or Target for $2.54 a pack is a good deal!
TRAITOR!!!!!!!!!!!!
With friends like you...
edited to say...I relaly can spell come...Im just typing too fast!!
Well then why can't you spell really?
Okay, I have another confession. You guys know that nasty cake I just was talking about? Well,....um....okay I ate more!!!!!!!!!!! I can't help it!!!!!!! I know its gross, but I keep eating it. What is wrong with me?????????????????????????
I really need a 12 step program for this!!!
[/quote]
Come on ge978, it can't be that bad if you keep on eating it. So who are you trying to convince that it was gross? Us or yourself? ![]()

Plus its my way of keeping how much I eat in check.... cause really how much monosodium disilicate can a body handle in a day.

Ok I'm in. There is a chocolate cake at Costco TO DIE FOR. To shop at Costco you have to pay 35.00 annual membership. I have a membership only for my chocolate cake craving. There is nothing else in that store that I buy, but oh that chocolate cake
WOW....you make me not so guilty for wanting to pay 16 for a grocery store chocolate cake!!!!
ummm.....speaking of little debbie....I just opened a twinkie for the boys to try....and well thats all they did was tkae a "try"......I ATE IT!!!
I know you are all gonna laugh, but I cant eat cake! I am diabetic! I will have a small little taste of something new, will have a lick of a new butter cream, but then I have to be good for a week afterwards. I have never had a full slice of one of my cakes! I guess that is my confession. Here I am a cake designer and I can't eat cake.
My son and DH are my tasters for me. Actually my DH is wonderful, he doesn't like super sweet and will tell me when something is flavorfull and not just sweet.
I used to get cakes from the bakery every once in a while when the little ones wanted cake and I didn't feel like baking. Since I have taken the classes and really started getting into decorating my own cakes I don't even look at the bakery any more. Except to see what they are doing that I can learn to do better and neater than they do. ALso, since learning to make my own icing I don't care for the taste of the bakery icing. Even my kids can tell the difference. They say it tastes like there is too much shortening in it. I know they like mine because every time I am making some there are a lot of little taste testers volunteering to help sample and make sure it tastes okay. If I really want chocolate and do not want to bake I just reach for a Little Debbie and that seems to help.
Hey! My turn! Little Debbie is one of my best friends!
Mom won't buy any cakes from the store so can't confess on that point...Laughed pretty hard when Charlie and the Chocolate Factory came out and Little Debbie had PURPLE CAKES!!!I mean puke purple too!
EWWWW!!!
You guys are really funny! How do i get to join the "twisted sisters"??? ![]()

Oh god twins, little debbie?
Maybe its just me but her cakes almost give my tounge a chemical peel if i eat them.
Actually my other grocery store confession is frozen chocolate/baileys swirled cheesecake. If its not frozen i don't want it though!!!!!!

My housemate in university bought be a chocolate cake from costco. This was about 5 years ago. Damn it was good. And yes, I would probably buy another one myself. But I really don't eat a lot of junk food. I give it all to my friends. Remember ladies
A moment on the lips....
.... A lifetime on the hips...

RFlores, if we are thinking about the same cake I too only got my membership for that. It like seven layers with choc. flakes pushed into the sides. My sister when she got married(2 years ago) used it as her wedding cake. Her and her then boyfriend now husband always wanted it but thought it was too big for just the two of them. They needed to have a party of some sort, so they decided to get married and have it then. JK Ever since that day the obsession continues. I have bought it twice since then but everytime I go in to Costco I always admire it sheer beauty.
Our grocery store gets in premade round cakes in flavors like triple chocolate that are pretty good but I don't buy them very often because I eat the whole thing. The birthday cakes they decorate in store are disgusting, the icing doesn't taste like anything but my boys love it when they go to a birthday party with one. Everytime we go shopping my 3 year old has to look at the cakes and they are always asking for them but I'm too cheap to buy a gross $18 cake that they spent 2 minutes on. I think that's payback for always wanting store cakes when we were kids since my mother decorated cakes too.
There is no real bakery around here with good sweets so I just make what I want.
Now Hostess, Little Debbie and Oreos are definatly my friends.
