I don't know how you guys that bake cakes every week do it. I did three cakes for cinco de mayo today (not done decorating) and have to do my daughters cake for her birthday tomorrow (in the oven) and I'm ready for a nap! My kitchen looks like I haven't cleaned in weeks with all the pans and bowls everywhere LOL. I meant to start things earlier, but I've been so busy with other things. This is why I don't do many cakes! I love it, but I candle handle this many.

Hats off to you guys that get it done!!! thumbs_up.gif

I have had many weekends where it looked like a tornado hit my kitchen!!!

I know just how you feel. I guess after staying up many nights late...I force myself to bake early in the week and make all my icing ahead of time. Otherwise...I think I would have to quit making cakes because I would be too tired!!!! icon_biggrin.gif

Congrats on all the work you have done this weekend! icon_biggrin.gif

Gosh all I need is to be making just one cake and my kitchen is a diaster. I figure if I keep making big messes and leave lots of hints...I'll get a bigger kitchen (for bigger messes of corse!) icon_smile.gif

The greatest measure of my evolution in cake decorating has been the status of my kitchen and dining room after doing cakes.

My dishwasher typically runs 2 to 4 times on a busy cake day, and this has been absolutely KEY in keeping my kitchen in order. I also try to do all my things in stages without transitioning back and forth between making batter, making white icing, and (the messiest) making chocolate icing. Once my kitchen transitions to chocolate, there's no going back to white.

I did four cakes between Friday and Saturday and my kitchen has just a few big cake pans to wash. OH YEAH! LOL

If I'm really really really busy, I steal a few hours of sleep at night still completely dressed, so I can get up and go right back to working.

That's pretty bad, eh? icon_cry.gif

Well I think I just had the worst weekend ever. I recieved a contract from a care home 2 weeks ago to make there monthly b-day cake. Recieved a call last week form them and ordered 2 1/2 slabs different days one 11x15 and 4 doz decorated cookies all for this week and then I got a call from my aunts nurse and her house was infested with ants so I had to bring her to my house and caring for her. Seems her son has washed his hands clean of his responsibilty and told me I made my bed now lie in it I am so mad and upset it hard to bake. I also have a presentation at a womens club on Tues on cake decorating that I can't get out of.
Just needed to vent and prayers would help. Plus I also have a job and work 36 hrs this week. HELP!!!!!
