This may sound dumb, but I have a printer and I'm getting a new one. Can I use my old one for printable images if I run the cleaner through it? icon_smile.gif

Thanks.

There was a link about this not long ago:

Check it out:

http://forum.cakecentral.com/cake-decorating-ftopict-217561-printers.html

and

http://forum.cakecentral.com/cake-decorating-ftopict-170951-printers.html

I think they both note to go to a similar site,

If you do a search for printers in the forum, you will get quite a few posts.

Good Luck.

I don't see why not. Every time you replace the inkjet you are puting in a new print head. It is not like the old print heads are coming in contact with your food grade paper.

Wow! This is great to know! I had no idea. So you are telling me that if I bought a used printer, cleaned it with the cleaning paper and then used edible ink with it I would be okay? Hmmmm. This is something that I need to look into.

Okay, me again...

So, my question is not all the time does paper feed thru the printer properly and ink residue ends up on the printer cartridge carriage. So, then if using edible ink in a used printer, wouldn't you still have the possibility of having the non-edible ink residue end up on the edible paper?

Maybe I am being dumb, but it just doesn't seem right? Please tell me what I am missing?

I would imagine that if the regular ink got on your image it wouldn't be useable, because it wouldn't look right.... so you would be okay but have to print again.

You have to have either the Epson or Canon that can be used with the edible imaging cartridges. Kopykake have the listing of compatible printers.

If your printer gets regular ink on the sheets when printing, I wouldn't use it.

Contact www.kopycake.com and talk with a rep....they are really great and will answer all your questions and concerns thumbs_up.gif
