Solid fats are 2 cups to a pound.

you can always do the math based on your shortening container .....

My 6 lb can of crisco says there are 227 tablespoons in the container. Per the conversion chart I found, there are 16 tablespoons to a cup. 227 divided by 16 = 14.1875 cups in this container. 14.1875 divided by 6 lbs = 2.3645 cups per lb.

So roughly.... 2-1/3 cups per lb.

Shoot, just get a scale and you'll never have to jack with measuring solids like that again.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE my digital kitchen scale!!

A pound of shortening is about 2 1/3 cups. I have a note I wrote to keep on hand that one (3 lb) can of shortening makes 3 1/2 batches of frosting ... that's two cups of frosting per batch.

I also love my digital kitchen scale! It makes it so easy to measure butter, shortening, etc.

I have always assumed that 1 pound of shortening was 2 cups, just like butter. I didn't realize there was any difference in the measurements!

Butter is heavier than Crisco because it contains anywhere from 16% - 18% water.
