I was just having a talk with my DH, I made a couple of cakes for today.
I tried the extender recipe from CC and it worked, great. So Far everyone loved it. Even my DH who prefers Lemon Meringue Pie, loved it, he said it was nice and dense and just awesome. I torted the vanilla/almond cakes, added a raspberry/almond flavor simple syrup and make a mouse with whip cream, raspberry pie filling and jello mixed. I covered them in BC and the designs.
I basically gave them away.
Now how much would you charge??
The sport one was 1 round layer of 9"X 2" cake cut and torted.
The 1st communion one, was 2 round layers of 9"X2" torted not cut. Decorated with a chocolate chalice and BC designs.
Also my DH asked if there are support groups for me being on this web site so much. LOL He is so funny! This site is adictive though!
Sorry I tried to add my pics. having trouble. will try again.
I'm not sure how much to charge, but I love both of the cakes.
Pricing really depends on where you are located. I know the communion cake in our area would be around 20-25 because its torted with filling and a simple design. A 8-9 inch round torted cake runs about 15-25 depending on detail, filling, work time etc. If you want to increase the price slightly, pipe out the chalice instead of using the premade and easily you have a 30-35 dollar cake. If you are familiar with the Wilton class cakes, the class 2 cakes with the birds, basketweave etc. would go for 30. (that was my suggestion by my cake instructor) Hope that helps.
I'm not sure about the pricing, but just wanted to say the cakes are cute. ![]()
Thanks guys, I was thinking in those lines, just wanted someone else opinion. I like to make everything edible in my cakes. So it's more fun, the chocolate makes it a little more expense, just because you use a lot. But the work is easy. It's the emotional want to make it perfect for your friend thing that gets me all the time.
Thanks for your help.
Good Luck letting go of your little treasures!
