I have a bridal shower cake due tomorrow and I want to try out my new diamond impression mat from CK.
#1 Do I spray the mat with Pam or dust it with something so it won't stick?
#2 Can I roll the mat around a 6" round or is the curve too steep?
#3 How do I get the dust or Pam off of the cake after I press the in the frosting?
Any other tips?
TIA!
Hi Heather,
I just did a BC jewelry box with my diamond impression mat and didn't spray it. I just waited until it crusted, smoothed it and then did the impression. (See my photos for the cake)
Not sure about #2, both times I used mine the cake was rectangular.

If you let your buttercream crust-over very well it will work like a charm! I wouldn't spray it with anything as that will transfer to your cake! I've also used it several times on a 6" round....I usually don't bend the mat so much....I just "revolve" the cake on the turntable and press as I go!
As already mentioned above, let your bc crust well first. And the best tip I ever learned was to not BEND the impression mat, just kind of 'walk' it around the cake, keeping it flat. It's harder to explain than it is to do, but if you do NOT bend the mat, you'll see what I mean. Practice on a pot first or something to get the feel of not bending it! ![]()
where do u get impression mats? been looking with no luck.
Where can you buy the quilted impression mat. I've looked everywhere and can't find it.
Thanks!! ![]()
