I've never used dragees but do you think piping gel would work?

You could make a tiny shallow hole impression in the fondant then use a smidge of piping gel to hold the dragee in the hole, or, royal icing will hold it too if you don't mind the white color possibly showing.

If you don't have RI use a little sugar glue. Dissolve a small ball of fondant in a little bit of water to form the sugar glue. Hope this will help.

If your fondant is still soft, just wet it & stick the dragees on the wet spots ( only use little bit of water ) otherwise I would use the sugar glue that Barbara mentioned icon_biggrin.gif

thanks for the tips everyone, I was in a mad rush so I had to finish before your responses came in. I didn't have any royal icing or piping gel, but I next time I would try those or sugar glue, this is how it came out, I knocked a few off the botton trasferring it half-assedly onto a cake platter. And BTW, I had nightmares about being chased by little silver balls that night! icon_biggrin.gif
(in hindsight I would also use gumpaste instead of fondant for the lettering, it was a pain to cut and transfer without it stretching!)

Wow! great cake. I love the silver effect on the top layer. I bet it was a big hit!

As a note, I usually just stick in the dragees when the fondant is still soft and it holds quite nicely. Other than that, fondant / gumpaste glue is the way to go!

I didn't know what dragees were until a few weeks ago, yes, they are the little silver balls. They look great and they are technically edible, although they might make someone break a tooth icon_wink.gif
