A coworker of a friend called to order a cake which will be delivered tomorrow. She wanted a fondant covered cake with teal, purple and blue flowers. She told me to do whatever I wanted(by the way I hate when they say that). Well I got as far as putting the flowers on the cake and I almost cried, it was so ugly. I took a break put DD to bed and went back to it. I put yellow royal in the center of the flowers, which I had intended to do, and it changed the entire look of the cake. I would not pick this color scheme, but I am pretty happy with the results. It is in my photos.

I would say this is an unusual color combo but it works! Just goes to show that we should not rush to judgement on our cakes until that are completely done!

Just like on some of the decorating shows like Trading Spaces. They always say to not judge the wall color until you get all the accessories in the room. I guess it can be the same for a cake.

You might not care for the colors but as long as your customers like it, it's ok. I think it turned out nice. thumbs_up.gif

I'm always terrified to try new color combinations. I worry that I'll make something that clashes horribly. But it helps to take inspiration from people who have different "color habits". Good job! And I can take a lesson from you and be more adventurous with colors!

Happy Baking!
