Is there an article somewhere on how to make them, or can someone please fill me in?
I made some last weekend, and they either stuck to the lollipop stick I formed them on, or they just broke. Actually, they were stuck and I broke them trying to get them off. ![]()
And what to you use to stick them in the cake?
Thanks.
Try putting some cornstarch on your sticks Maybe slide the stick off when they're semi-dried? (As long as they'll still hold their shape.) I would make the end of the curl straight/pointed so that I could just push it into the cake. Or, you could attach a stick/skinny skewer to the end to push into the cake.
Funny.... I just saw this post and went through the very same thing at my Wilton 3 class last night. My curli-ques were sticking to the dowel rods I was using. Someone in our class used clean, unsharpened pencils to wrap them around. I tried it and they slid right off, no sticking at all. There is a pic in my album of the curli-ques. HTH
I used my paintbrushes to wrap them around. They came off just fine.
I wrap mine around straws or the plastic dowels. I've never had a problem w/ them sticking...
