They're great! They look like redwork embroidery (one of my faves).

thanks! i'm pretty happy with them.. so far at least! i just put the dowels in (i'm using the 7" crystal pillars)... they're supposed to connect to a plate but i had hubby saw off one side where it's bigger so that i could just put them right into the cake without having a HUGE gap between the cake and the pillar... i put one in a little slanted but i'm sure once we're there and we put the cakes on top, it'll be fine

anyone have an idea of what size tip i should use for the bottom border? the cake is already so close to the edge i'm scared to make a bigger pearl border... they don't want a top border on it though... thanks!!!

When using the seperator plates I always like to make my border cover as much of the plate as possible, but my icing doesn't ever turn out super white so I try to cover up as much of it as I can. Without putting my fingers in it as I move it. Have you thought about using a small ribbon border? That would look really pretty if you could match the colors.

I know what you mean about your hand - I've done 4 tiers of cornelli and my hand was deformed for about an hour - couldn't open all the way - looked like I was holding decorating bag. icon_cry.gif

From what I see so far I wouldn't worry about them not liking their cake it will be very impressive.
