OOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHKAY!!!! i am going to take a deep breath, quote $5 a serving and go from there. i suppose if it doesnt work for them, then i can help find something that will fit their budget. i do know that i will NOT do anything for less than 3 a serving, regardless of simplicity . i have a husband, 3 small children an a rescued bait dog that need me!!!! (not to mention housework and myself!) thank you everyone for your encouragment and perspective. i am very appreciative and humbled. seriously.
You go girl, I think $5 for that endeveour will be a good price, especially since you know how much the originator of this cake charges.
By the way, you do beautiful work and I only wish I could do 1/10 of what you do. I showed your Cally Lily illusion cake tomy DH last night (from another tread) and we both sat there in awe.
Just from exerience, and someone else mentioned it also, make sure you use a filling that can handle the angles, I made that mistake twice, but not trice, let me tell you! 2 different fillings and now I think about it a lot!!
Good Luck.
thank you so much for the kind compliments. it humbles me really!
maryann, do you have a link with his cake showing his price? i cant find one anywhere.
If you're talking about Ben-Israel go to the FAQ page. $12-15 I think!
I'll type it again... $12-15!
So when you think $5 is too much reread the price above. LOL!
I'm in the East coast- NJ/NY area. I haven't posted photos due to my computer having several costly meltdowns. When I'm able to retrieve AND grab some time I will post my cakes for all to see. LOL!
At this moment I have my hands full with my son (7 months old) this new cake business, taking courses to become a Chocolatier and writing chapters to give to my Romance Writing critique group.
I'm a little busy to say the least but I've always been one of those kind of people that loves to learn and keep busy.
If I haven't put up anything this same time next month please do not hesistate to nudge me and remind me. I am forgetful sometimes.
I've learned the hard way, if you don't charge what you think the cake is worth then your heart won't truly be into making it. That's when I do shotty work, when I don't think they're paying enough and it's my own fault!!!! So, that being said I'm with everyone else......don't sell yourself short!!! Charge what you're worth and the cake will look fantastic, I know, I've seen your pic's!!!! Good luck and we look forward to seeing the pic!!
Carrie
I just looked at your gallery and your cakes are wonderful! Don't sell yourself short you definitely need to go upper end! and stay there... They will be lucky to have one of your cakes! If you don't you will be kicking yourself especially after doing this cake..
Oh, nice cake! Now, considering that you don't have the hassle of doing the flowers too, I'd say $4.50-$5 per serving - and don't forget to charge a set up fee too - that cake is going to take a while to assemble once on site!.
Your work is truly breathtaking and immaculate. Don't sell yourself short. I would charge at least $5 per serving for a cake like that. I know you could do it with the cakes I seen in your photos.
If they go to a bakery and ask for this cake they will pay even more.
thank you so much for the kind compliments. it humbles me really!
