Should I Leave Well Enough Alone Or Add More To This Cake?

I have had the hardest time with the design for this cake. I may have gone overboard with the shoe theme too, but I thought they were soooo cute I couldn't resist. Should I add a top border or anything else to finish this puppy or should I quit while I am ahead
There is a small tip 2 bead border at the bottom so I was thinking a larger bead border on top in white but not sure if it will look odd being bigger on top. I did the bottom one small because I didn't want to cover the ribbon. Also, does the shoe on top look okay empty? I was thinking about filling it with something but worried about the additional weight and/or clutter. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you!!!
Jodie
put down the cake tools and step away from the cake!!!!
it's done
it's perfect
the only thing missing
::APPLAUSE!!!!!!::
(of course if you insist on filling the shoe, you could add a bottle of champagne to the side for pouring into that absolutely perfect shoe for the traditional drink for the shoe toast)
______
and do please tell us all how you made such a realistic shoe! I'm in awe!!!!
very nice, leave it be.... i agree w/ doug....champagne anyone?
Thanks everyone for the quick responses!!! My husband will be thrilled to see me start cleaning up the disaster area that is my kitchen ![]()
I made the shoe using a 3D chocolate mold that I got from candylandcrafts.com. The little shoes are MMF that I pressed into different candy molds. I was going to do chocolate for those too, but thought they would be too heavy to stick to the cake.
That is great! That shoe looks wonderful!

Thanks everyone!!! Champagne sounds good to me too! I just posted the final full sized picture in the gallery. I can't wait to give the cake to my shoe-loving co-worker tomorrow!!!!
Thanks everyone! I gave the cake to my co-worker today and she LOVED it. She asked for a copy of the pic and has it set as her display pic for windows messenger. It was so worth the time and effort for the smile on her face when I brought it to her!! That is the best feeling, isn't it?
Thanks again for not letting me go overboard ![]()
It's wonderful. It definitely needs nothing else. What an impressive shoe. I NEED that mold!!! Thanks for letting us in on where you got it! Congrats on a perfect lil cake!
Ok, here's my question(Fabulous cake by the way! And great, great shoe!)... how did you tranport this cake? Did you 'anchor' the shoe to the cake somehow or did the icing just keep it in place? Driving on bumpy roads, potholes, etc... i could just see that shoe falling over! (transporting cakes is obviously my biggest concern, haha!).
Good question micfish. I was pretty worried about transporting it without the shoe falling over. I did adhere it to the cake with lots of buttercream (hence the bows around the heel and the curlicues under the front - all hiding the extra buttercream "glue") and last night shook it to see how sturdy it was and it seemed fine, but I had one of my co-workers pick me up so I could hold it. The shoe did not budge at all. Probably the weight at the bottom of the shoe (the heel is solid and the front is thicker) helped and I guess thick buttercream was enough to hold it in place. I was actually thinking maybe I should have attached candy sticks to the bottom of the shoe and anchored it into the cake that way, but that didn't occur to me until after I had attached it
I love everything about baking and decorating cakes except for transporting them. So nerve-wracking....
