HI,

it's something I posted today. I don't know how to add a link to this post, but it should be in the Cake Decorating forum. The title was "!!!I think I just came up with a great new recipe!!!"

I'm not sure if this will work, but this should be the link to my thread about the Jello fondant:

As I said, I'm not sure how to add a link.

No, the Jello is used as the base for the fondant, instead of gelatin. The added color and flavor seems to enhance the fondant.

Yes, that's it. The link I posted above seemed to work, too.

The color/flavor of the one in the picture is Margarita.

Jello IS Gelatine, Jello is just the brand name with flavor added.
That is a GREAT recipe! thumbs_up.gif

But Jello is not just gelatin with flavor added. It also has color already added, so I thought it would be cool to use it and save the steps and expense of coloring and flavoring. It also has sugar in it, which has to be taken into account in the recipe. The taste of this fondant is better than fondant just made with plain gelatin, because Jello has some good flavors.

Plus, you can use boiling water with Jello, but plain gelatin needs to be mixed with cooler water and heated gently. Anyway, I don't suppose I need to keep explaining the idea. I think it's a good innovation, so I'll just use it myself. Sheesh!

I'm sorry, too nefgaby. It's just that on the original post people were posting that it's just a recipe from the Cake Bible, and I've never even read the Cake Bible. I had been nervous to post the recipe I came up with this morning because so many times I get jumped on in these forums and I never understand why.

And I really did just start with some confectioner's sugar and a boxes of Jello and try things until it worked. I added the sugar until it was enough sugar, and that's how I got the 4 pound amount, even though when I've made fondant before it took less sugar to complete the recipe. So anyway, I said I made up the recipe because I actually had just tried different things until it worked.

Anyway, you and I have been buds for a while. Thanks for being so sweet. I'm going to go eat a brownie and chill. icon_biggrin.gif
