Well from the title you can pretty much guess what happened haha. But I cannot believe people!! I was at A.C. Moore doing a cake demonstration, I had my course 1, 2, 3 display cakes out on the table and I was decorating a real one. Everyone always comes up and says stuff like "omg is that real?" and that kind of stuff. So this father and his young daughter walk up and the little girl goes "Is that real!" and I explain to her and her father that "these three are styrofoam display cakes but the one i'm working on right now is White Almond Sour Cream Cake with Raspberry mousse filling" He tells his daughter that it is real and shes says "no its not" So THEN He sticks his finger right through the front of the cake!! The cake I had just finished decorating had not yet taken pictures of and he sticks his finger right in the Front! Then says "She just wanted to see if it was real" and walks away. I was in complete shock, I just looked at my mother and she was SO MAD! A little kid I could understand but an adult! Who does that?!

My mother was there because I was just about done and she and my grandmother came to pick me up. He's lucky my grandmother didn't see him do that!

Wow.....I just can't believe that. What a loser of a parent! What message is he sending to his child by doing that type of thing??? And for what reason did he feel it necessary to "prove" that you were telling the truth!!

I'd have chased him down and given him a piece of my mind!! His little girl would then be learning that maybe her daddy is not as smart as he should be!!

People have just lost all sense of right and wrong, and have no common decency anymore.

No wonder we the problems with our youth today that we have!! Look at the kind of examples that they have to go on!!!

Good Grief!!!

I'm sorry that happened to you. Obviously you had a reason for making a real cake, for eating. Guess you can't do that now can you? You never know where that finger was before it made into your cake!

Too bad there isn't a "Doh" machine for these kind of folks, that would go off loud enough for others to hear so they'd notice.....that'd teach him!!

What a jerk.....

Ditto that, to everyone who sticks his finger in a cake or cookie. you touch, you buy. Why should you just swallow the cost, it's not as if you can still sell a cake, when someone's poked his finger in it.

Okay heres a pic of the cake. I still managed to get a good pic despite his finger mark, you can't see it in the pic.

That cake is beautiful i love the lace strips. Its a twisted world when people like that are allowed to reproduce and then raise the kids. I cannot believe that he would have the nerve to first not believe you and then have to stick his finger in the cake.
I so would have been making him pay for it.

I'm sitting here trying to think of what to write and I can't think of anything. I am totally dumbfounded! The Nerve!

That reminds me a little of one of my husband's relatives whom loves to go over to cakes and use her finger to scoop a taste. All five of her children do the same thing! How in the world can you correct the kids when their parents need correcting?!!!!

I believe all Stupid people should be locked away somewhere. This way the can not harm the general public, only each other. The only other solution is to have to wear and large neon sign the reads Stupid and points down at them. This way people can see them coming and know to protect themselves and their belongings. They must also have a responsible adult with them at all times, so they can slap their hands and tell them "don't do that, that's stupid".

eeeeeeeeeeeeew AND aaaaaaaaaaargh!!! And, so did he lick the icing off his finger?

Too bad he wasn't in a pet store at the baby alligator display when his daughter asked, "Is it real?"

So, maybe next time put a sign on your table that says, "Keep your fingers outta my cakes!"

We have idiots every where.. My brother inlaw is the same way, I made my mother a beautiful cake for her birthday. I had not been decorating long, we were having a family dinner and he walk up and says "thats great" and sticks his finger in the middle and takes a swipe. It was basket weave so you know how bad that looked. My Mom was so mad she "chewed" him out real good and called him a IDIOT. Go Mom.....

Maybe I am just a !@#$% but I feel I must say something very smart@$$ to let these type of people know exactly how everyone else feels when subjected to their uncouth behaviour. I find it very hard to keep my mouth shut when someone inflicts their uncouth "barnyard" behaviour on me. I know you had to be seething! icon_evil.gif Your cake is gorgeous!

The nerve of that guy. He should be paying you twice for that cake. Once for the cake that was destroyed by his stupidity and once just for being an idiot. LOL People today (some, not all) have no respect for the hard work of others. It probably just made you want to cry. People just don't get the concept of all the work that goes into making beautiful cakes like that. BTW your cake is awesome. I hope he's just a weekend dad to that child and someone else is responsible for teaching her what's right and wrong! He certainly doesn't know!!

I think if I were you I would have stood up and shoved his entire face in it to PROVE it was real.... but then again you wouldn't have gotten such a nice picture.. great job, the cake is very pretty.... some people have no sense of reality.... all I ever say to that is "other people's children!"
