I may have just told the little girl, 'See it's real!" and promptly smashed it into his smug little smiling face. Not nice and not very christian of me. But I guess I'd have to make that up to God.

So tell me, who was the idiot that coined the phrase "The customer is always right.?"

It is bad enough when children do things like this, but an adult? I thought that only happened at wedding receptions, when they thought people were not looking!

It is a good thing you kept your composure, or you would be out of a job. You're a better person than I am. Although I would not have smashed him in the face with it, I would have yelled for security and had him escorted out immediately.

that happened to me last week - I made a dummy cake as a centerpiece for a teacher appreciation and when I went back to get it - there was a fingernail puncture where I am sure someone said "is that real" and when they touched it nothing happened (cause it was fondant) so then they pushed harder and these were teachers. Some people are just stupid and inconsiderate

Sunshine93, you asked who does that?

Someone who knows they can get away with it because they are a customer. I worked in retail and retail management for 15 years before becoming a telephone operator, so I have dealt with people face-to-face and over the telephone. Either way, people are brutal. Which is worse is only a matter of personal interpretation. It goes back to what I just said about the customer thinking they are always right. Some people take it too literally because they know they can, and get away with it.

Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh, about 4 years ago I made a HUGE cake for my nephews wedding, stayed up all night doing it, its the Heidbreder one in my photos. While at the reception hall, before the bride and groom arrived I was fussing with it and the flower girl, the 5 year old niece of the bride, who was a brat during the whole ceremony, came up and stuck her finger upt to the knuckle in my large bottom tier, I about lost it, I leaned over and very quietly and in the meanest voice I could muster (the kind you use in the movies before you kill someone) I told her what a brat and what a mean little girl she was and to go back to her daddy and if she came near the cake again she would regret it. The look on her face was priceless. She ran back to daddy and I could see her pointing at me but Daddy never came over, and neither did she. I spent the rest of the time til the bride and groom got there standing in front of the cake with a spatula in one hand and knife in the other with my arms folded, daring the mongrel 5 year old hord that was running with her and running wild through there, to try me. I'm not usually quite that assertive, in this case it worked.

You need a sign:

Lovely to look at,
Lovely to behold
But if you touch it, Then it is Sold!!!
(NO EXCEPTIONS)

(After finger-poker pays $$$ for cake, he can let baby finger-poker have at it, too.)

Bet it won't be soooo funnnny then icon_twisted.gif

Such rude behaviour reminds me of this quote by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.:

"Nothing in all the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity."

And Tiptop would have screamed across the store.....

'Off with their heads' shouted the Queen and the procession moved on.

Later on after following them around the store Tiptop would say......

"`Are their heads off?' shouted the Queen.
`Their heads are gone, if it please your Majesty!' the soldiers shouted in reply.
`That's right!' shouted the Queen of Hearts.

oh Jan I do like the MLK quote, particularly the conscientious stupidity !

one of my three sister in law's from my one and only marriage and now divorce, walked into my home post my daughter's christening and took a giant spoon to swipe across the top of a beautiful bowl of trifle to lick laviciously before the buffet even began. I had about 30 there including friends, minister, his family etc. How sweet of her icon_cool.gif A college graduate and daughter of a physican and of course, the same SIL who also asked me loudly at my own bridesmaid's luncheon "can I take my shoes off?".

icon_redface.gif it was a premonition, I shoud have paid attention but the two kids were worth it thumbs_up.gif

I'm getting to the point where I'm not taking nothin' from nobody! Especially rude and stupid people. In a perfect world I probably would have said real loud, "Sir, wait you forgot something!" and when he came back and said "What did I forget?", I would have said, as I was smashing the cake all over him, "You forgot the rest of the cake! And you can pay for it up front!" But then you run the risk of being sued by a major ignoramous.
You may have to put up signs saying the two things I always tell my son:
1. You look with your eyes, not your hands.
2. If your name's not on it, it's not yours, so DON'T TOUCH!

My teenage son has a shirt that gets a lot of attenion. It says: Beware of stupid people in large groups. But I find that it can take only one smarts-challenged person to screw thing up. And they're allowed to breed......SIGH
