I'm thinking of taking the class. What supplies are needed to take it? Thanks

I've thought about taking that class, too. You can stop by and ask to see the supplies-needed list (the one they give you when you sign up for a class). For cake classes, my first class involved looking at all the items for sale and their use, so I would expect the first art class to discuss brushes, paints, paint holders, etc. At a cake seminar it was recommended that we should take a beginning water color class rather than the one stroke class. I plan to do that; but the one stroke seems like it would be neat, too.

Are the cakes you painted one stroke on in your photos folder here at CC? If so, which ones? I would love to see them.

yes they are......here I'll just add them.......I have a couple pages of cakes so I don't want you to have to spend all day looking at them lol The last one, just the grass on the sides and the leaves on top are painted.....that was my FIRST attempt of painting ANYTHING on a cake

Would you be willing to write a Tutorial? Or at least write out instructions? I don't have any idea where to begin and it's such a pretty technique!

A tutorial would be great! Your cakes are amazing and it is very hard to believe the blue one was your first one! I saw your pink one come through a while back here on CC and I loved it and had no clue it was hand painted! Thought it was stenciled it looks so perfect!

I've taken the class. It is a really fun class. I suggest that you take the class. They have a book of one stroke at Michael's. I think you need maybe just one or two classes to get the understanding. They have Donna Dewberry on one of the channels. She actually had a one stroke show on cakes. They looked very nice.

You tube has some instructional videos. I just searched, "one stroke painting". Here is one for example...

Yep, I've been thinking about this also for a while. And, like many here, how well it'll probably work on the cakes.

Maybe I'll just look for a DVD or video. After seeing the above posted link, and remembering seeing this done on TV, I think if I just had something to follow along with for a while, I could probably get the hang of it. I used to paint, many centuries ago, back in high school.

hey, I'll do what I can for you guys..........I really don't think I'm that great at it though....just a great faker (is that a word?) But I will definitely do one soon if I can and snap photos along the way and try to help ya guys out.......really I don't do anything special though!! If you watch the one stroke lady on t.v. that's pretty much it....I just use the Americolor Gels right out of the container and I do use the one stroke brushes.....just because they are the only ones I've found that don't lose the hairs on them (hair and cake....not good lol)....other than that there really is no trick except how you load the paintbrush.....you put two colors on the brush one on one side and one on the other side and sort of blend them in the center......and it creates the picture, the shading, and everything all in one stroke...lol...guess that's why they call it that
