So Will It Collapse By Tomorrow Night?
Decorating By SweetResults Updated 2 Apr 2007 , 2:32am by momthreekiddos
I am still working on head and helmet, but getting there. Shirt still needs details as well.
My question is... will this make it to tomorrow night, or will I get up in the morning to find crushed cake and a blob of fondant???????
Gloves and stick are not edible - had to cut myself some slack and let myself "cheat" there LOL!
AAAAAHHHHH!!!!! the headless hockey player!!! j/k...looks good. Post when your done.
wow thats great can't wait to see the finished guy- what is your support system??
looks pretty big too impressive!!
I wouldn't think so if you doweled it good but since I have no idea how to do that type of cake I guess I shouldn't answer. It looks great! I want to see the finished product and if you wouldn't mind I would love the instructions on how to do this cake!!!!! Here is my email if you don't mind giving me instructions. Thanks!

That is a great cake!!! It shouldnt collapse if it is well doweled. I might put off putting the head on until last minute.
whoops, sorry, hit enter too quickly...I wanted to add...is the high heel to the right the murder weapon in question that took the poor guy's head off? ![]()
He looks great ( even though he's minus his head!)
I surely hope he makes it, but as all the others have said, I don't know what kind of support you have. If all else fails, you've got proof that you actually pulled it off!LOL That is great!!! Pleas share with us what you did for support. I'll probably never do a hockey player but if the need ever arose for an odd shape (ie your arms), I would love to know a good way to support it!! Are the arms rice krispie or cake? just curious. Again, he looks amazing!!!!
LOVE this!!! Can't wait to see the finished product. Rice Krispies? I don't even want to attempt to give you my opinion for fear that it may fall!!!!! But if you support it properly with the dowel's it should stand forever?? But I would put it on at least a little before so you can see if it is going to fall. Please send us all a pic when you are done, we're all on pins and needles for you!!!!!!! [email protected]
Can't wait to see the finished product, what you have so far is awesome and very impressive!! Would love to know how you did it
OMG... so jealous... We are one strong hockey family and town here.. Go Vancouver Canucks!!

It made it!!!!![]()
Put the head on when I got there and it worked out well. I did not dowel, which is what made me nervous, the carving and central support that was screwed into the base threw me all off. But at least next time I know what to do to make it better and not have to spend the night worrying what it will look like in the morning!
You can see the finished cake in my photos.
Thanks guys! Also - forgot to mention - the comments about the "stilleto in the pantry" - had me on the floor laughing! The shoe is actually a bottle of sangria, which now that this cake is done I think I just may open it and celebrate!
Doug - thanks again for the internal design. I did use the copper pipe in the center with the t attached to the the top with brackets welded to it. Then I used a plastic shower drain cover attached to the brackets with flower nails to place the head on. I was able to put dowels through the shower drain to the bottom of the cake and attach the head on to those as well. When I was going around the plumbing dept at Lowes looking for the stuff the guys didn't quite know what to make of it when they heard I was making a cake!
Thanks so much for your tips!!
