Hi, all ~

Okay, I need quick help. I have to make a basketball cake and need the basketball color but do not have terra cotta like Wilton recommends. Any ideas on how to achieve this color? I do not have orange food color either but have most all the others.

Thanks!
Julie

Try mixing red and yellow and then maybe a touch of brown to get the shade.

Terra cotta is a reddish brown. So I would suggest that you start with a med - dark brown then slowly add some red to it until you get the right color.

What I do when I am experimenting with colours is, I start with a tiny bit of icing. And I experiment with that before I start with the large batch. I do this for two reasons. One reason being it's easier to tint a tiny batch of icing. And the other reason being I have an idea of how much I will need to tint the larger batch.

Do you have copper? That's what I use, with a touch of brown. Hope you find what you need! =)

When I did my basketball cake I just used orange. I would think if you mixed red and yellow...that would do the trick. icon_smile.gif
