Wow! I Thought I Was Overcharging!

Has anyone looked at the Wilton site lately? GUESS WHAT?! They are now selling pre-made bows to put on your cake. I'm sure it's made with their nasty tasting stuff but you know how much they are charging? C'mon guess. For a 6 and 1/2 inch bow they are charging $24.99 PLUS shipping
. Eeek! I thought I was charging too much. Turns out I'm not charging quite enough. Live & learn... ![]()
I charge between $30-$50 for bows depending how intriquite. It takes time to make the gumpaste, make the bow loops, make the royal icing, put it all together and then dust it...They are easy, but time consuming. Sometimes I put pearls on the edge and that is very time consuming...
I have seen them in person. Michaels is carrying them. They are fondant - and are beautifully made (but lots of folks on here can do that too!) If I remember right they were $29.99 on the shelf. (It may have been $24.99 - I will have to check again to be sure)
They are $29.99 for a package of 3 and they are gumpaste. According to their website anyway.
The one I saw at Michaels was a huge single one in a clear plastic box - they didn't have any that had 3 in it. It was also white - so you could "paint" it whatever color you wanted to. It was really a pretty bow - but again, I can't remember the price. I will look again tonight - I will be there for my class.
I have made two cakes with bows I made of fondant. I didn't charge anything extra since these cakes had no artwork that took up my time.
