I am so intimidated by cupcake cakes, is this silly of me?? I just can't imagine how they all stay together in the right shape while you're trying to ice them icon_confused.gif

I am thinking of making two for my boys' classes Easter parties (I have one pre-k and one kindergarten), one bunny and one easter egg.

Does anyone have any tips or are these cakes really that hard to do??

They are very easy to make. I made one for my daughter's birthday with the American Idol theme on it (in my photos). The one mistake I made was not putting icing on the bottom of the cupcakes so they would stick to the cake board. It almost slid off on the way to the party! I have also made a Santa, snowman and tree but didn't upload them (this time I did put icing on the bottoms and they didn't slide at all). Make sure you put the cupcakes as close together as you can get and then I just iced over it with white and then decorated over top of that. They were very simple. You could make a very easy bunny or even an egg. You are very talented so give it a try, you will see how easy it is.

Thanks! That doesn't sound so bad lol. I wouldn't have thought of putting icing on the bottom of them so thanks for that tip. I'm kind of excited to try it now icon_smile.gif

CC are so fun and really easy. I just did one with a Spongebob FBCT that is in my photos. I first kind of layed out how I wanted the cupcakes to be on the board then put a tiny bit of bc on the bottoms so they wouldn't move around. Using the icer tip to put your icing on top makes it even easier, then decorate however you want.

Definitely try it, you'll be amazed how quick you can do one and how easy it is.

Instead of Icing I use dab of metled chocolate wafers, it's less messy and wont move. As long as you tell what you did, people will know to "give a good little pull". They are fun, just b ready to use a lot of icing.

I've only made one (in my photos) and it was surprisingly simple to do. Yes, make sure you put a dab of icing on the bottom of each cupcake before placing on your board. I did a FBCT on top of mine and it worked really well. Good luck and post pics! icon_smile.gif

I iced each cupcake and then placed it back on the board with the icing on the bottom. Then I went back and put a little more icing on it and smothed it with my spatula to fill in the gaps.

I was really surprised at how easy they are to do too!
I've done 3, and I used the icer tip, but I find that there is just too much icing!

Just use the large icer tip and then Viva the whole thing...gets really smooth. Then decorate!! My race track CCC and my snowman CCC are in my photos.

I do this if I want a smooth top. But if you take a look in my photos I have a picture of a cross CCC and i just iced each one individually. It all depends on the look your going for.
